Today we celebrate Juneteenth for the first time in @cambridgeuniversity as we commemorate the emancipation of enslaved Africans in the United States. And just like that, 2021 is done.
As it happens every year, it is almost impossible to choose a single word to describe a year. However, this time around it is slightly easier: this year was tough.
At the beginning of this year, I had some serious health issues which triggered my anxiety, especially since my doctor couldn’t really figure out what it was. Thankfully, my health has improved since then and my anxiety has mellowed to controllable levels.
Grief has been an unexpected companion. Not having dealt with it before, it was quite challenging to get around this unfamiliar feeling. However, I have managed live with it and channel all of that loss into lovely memories. It is still an ongoing process, and one that I believe I still have a lot to learn from.
Reflection has also had great significance this year - being unemployed (unfortunately) helped with that lol. I was able to find healthy outlets for these thoughts and feelings I have been accumulating overtime, which have been emotionally taxing yet liberating, exploring different feelings such as love, as seen in the last slide. I didn’t intend it to have any meaning, but rather to change the ways in which I deal with my feelings. Change does not come easily and it requires a complicated healing process.
Despite the difficulties, I am extremely grateful to have made it for the Earth’s new trip around the sun. 2021 still leaves some open scars to be dealt with, but I am hopeful and I feel excited to see what’s next! 🥳
This compilation is not an exhaustive collection of memories from this year, but these are some that I hold dearest to my heart. I am also eternally grateful for everyone who has been part of this year and have contributed their love, patience, support, kindness and wisdom. You have helped me stay grounded and safe during the challenging times. Your (virtual and at times physical, following government advice) presence has been the highlight of this year! I love you all! ❤️
May 2022 bring happiness, health, great memories with friends, more self-love and growth, more activism, more love and, of course, more TikToks!
Happy New Year everyone! Cheers to new and hopefully bright beginnings! ✨🥂

Another trip around the sun completed! Thank you so much for your lovely birthday messages 🥰💐 This past year has been… unusual (didn’t really know what adjective to describe the course of the world during this time lol). It has been quite challenging, having to push through during a period of our lives that doesn’t want to give us a break. Despite all of this, this past year has also been filled with self-reflection, growth, a developed sense of belonging and many nuggets of wisdom that I will carry for the rest of my life.
While it has not been an easy ride, here I am! Wishing for a great start to this new age surrounded by amazing people and creating new and great memories 🥳
Also, grattis på födelsedagen to my birthday twin, my grandmother Siv, who I miss more and more everyday. Her laughter still is the best memory that I cherish from our shared celebrations. Her wisdom and kindness continue to light my life and bless this beloved day ✨
