Underneath | Pat Kinevane | Wed 21 Oct, 8pm

Is beauty only skin deep? And what’s hiding underneath?

Pat Kinevane’s darkly comic solo show tells the story of a life lived in secret, out on the edges of everyday life. It’s funny and vivid, and it shows how cruel words can cut deeper than any wound.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Like Olivier’s legendary Hamlet, this is one of those rare performances that will be talked about for decades to come” – Examiner.com

REFUGE by Deirdre Kinahan in Babylon Berlin 🎭

Ambassador Collins welcomed @fishamble and @staatstheatermainz to Berlin for a special unplugged reading of REFUGE in Babylon Berlin on Wednesday evening.

Set in a time when thousands of refugees from Rhineland-Palatinate moved to Ireland to flee war and religious persecution, the German-Irish co-production deftly handles a subject that resonates with so many today: the need for safety, dignity, stability, a sense of belonging and a place to call home. To learn more about the historical context of the play, guests had the opportunity to view an exhibition about the Irish Palatines, with thanks to the Consulate General in Frankfurt am Main.

The full production of REFUGE will be presented in Staatstheater Mainz on 17th, 20th and 21st October as part of Ireland’s EU Presidency Culture Programme with Culture Ireland.

See the link in our bio for more information.

🗓️ Babylon Berlin | 14th Oct. 18:30

REFUGE by Deirdre Kinahan

A special ‘unplugged’ staging will be presented in Babylon Berlin by the Embassy of Ireland following a successful run in Limerick, Dublin and Mainz.

In the 18th century, thousands of refugees from southwestern Germany moved to Ireland, fleeing war and religious persecution. The influence of these settlers lives on in parts of Ireland to this day. Deirdre Kinahan’s new play draws on the hidden history of these settlers and links it to the experiences of displaced people in Ireland today as well as minorities such as the Traveller community.

Kinahan has written over 30 plays and is one of Ireland’s best-known contemporary playwrights.

REFUGE is presented as part of Ireland’s EU Presidency culture programme

🎟️ Tickets are free. Register through the link in our bio

Please note:
The staging will be in English with no subtitles

Hello Charlie by Caoimhe Farren

We are officially open in Belfast. The show runs at Lyric Naughton Studio from 7th-18th October but tickets are extremely limited across the run (UNREAL!) so get them booked now if you want to see it.

Hello Charlie has been an absolute labour of love for everyone involved.

Caoimhe Farren's exceptional script started life during lockdown in 2020 before getting accepted on to Lyric Belfast New Playwright's Programme in 2021.

Our very own Seón Simpson directed the reading all those years ago and loved the play from the very first day she read it.

Despite multiple accolades for the script the show struggled to receive a full production in a theatrical climate that avoids the supposed risk of new writing, especially new writing by women.

But Front & Centre determined to challenge this staged another reading in 2025, and by then the power of this story was impossible to ignore.

In the months that followed SkelpieLimmer, Front & Centre and An Grianán theatre became determined to make this stunning show happen.

As we worked on funding and programming the love for this story became clear from so many other companies, with Fishamble: The New Play Company, Lyric Belfast, Pavilion Theatre and Gallagher Films putting their support behind our production.

Last night we opened in Belfast to a sold out audience, limited tickets across the run, laughs, tears and the most instant standing ovation we've ever seen.

New writing is not a risk, it's the life force of a passionate arts scene.

Eternally proud of this team ❤️ you will never forget this play.
