Fantastic start to the day with our Waves of Wellbeing session as part of the 2026 Festival of Recovery 🤗🌊💜

We had waves, sunshine, a rainbow and an amazing group of women.

We took our full fleet of bodyboards (too windy for the big surfboards) and had a lot of fun in the waves.

Quotes heard in the sea:

" I feel like a mermaid"

"This is brilliant"

"I'm not even cold"

And many "wooo" "weeee" and other lovely happy noises 🥳

A little surf psychology at @groundswellscotland festival last weekend 🧠🏄‍♀️

It was a privilege to work alongside the coaches and support a group of intermediate surfers as they took on a rocky reef spot; some for the very first time.

Once technique, safety and the waves had been checked out, we turned our attention to the mental side of progression.

The surfers set some specific, process-focused goals; specific actions that could help them to surf their best. Then thinking about how it might feel to do the actions successfully in the water.

Being process-focused can be particularly useful when a session feels intimidating. Rather than getting caught up in the fear of what might happen, focusing on the things you can control can help reduce fear and create a greater sense of confidence and control.

After surfing we debriefed. Reflecting on what worked, what they learned and what they want to take into their next session is such an important part of getting better.

There were some great moments in the water (we were too focused on the surfing process to capture most of them 🤩).

I think we’ll be seeing some these surfers taking on the rocks more often in the future 🤙🪨

Summer Family Surf Club

We had a lovely big circle on the beach, paused to breathe and did our groundings.

Emma led a very energetic warm up then we had teeny tiny waves to play with and lots of fun splashing about.

Thank you to everyone who came to our Tidal Connection & Waves for Wellbeing summer solstice celebration. Beautiful weather, tiniest of wind waves and very clear water and lots of lovely family and friends around the fire.

Fantastic Friday Surf Therapy session with @edinsponsorcircle at Pease Bay

Sending waves of love to the surfsisters who couldn't join us 🌊💜💙

The sea was beautiful and calm so it was a great opportunity to really build confidence on the surfboards. Paddling, lying, sitting, resting - everyone challenged themselves and left the sea with big smiles.

Who inspires you when your energy feels low?

Maybe inspiration is something we start noticing more… and perhaps it’s the antidote to what drains us?

Not celebrities. Not the impossible “have-it-all” people online.

I mean the real human beans 🫘 The ones who refill your tank when life, globally and in your own world, feels demanding.

Here are a few of mine this week 💛

1. Georgina
Our volunteer counsellor at Direction. Her tenacity, love and care are extraordinary, especially as a mum. The kind of person who reminds you that strength can be incredibly gentle.

2. A brilliant group of women over dinner
Tuesday night turned into one of those accidental mentoring sessions. Honest conversations, wisdom, laughter, vulnerability and women cheering each other on. Women holding space for each other without competition.

3. Julie Grieve
My partner in Nexus Women in Leadership Scotland. We’ve led this community together for a year and partnership is such an underrated superpower. Shared values, trust, laughter and simply having each other’s backs.

4. The speakers at the HR Network Conference
People sharing wisdom with honesty and heart always inspire me. Leaders speaking from experience rather than perfection hit differently.

5. Andrew Penker
Someone I partner with in training and mentoring who radiates warmth and kindness. Quiet encouragement can completely change a hard week.

6. Daphne the fox 🦊
Yes, genuinely. The fox who visits my allotment. Wildlife inspires me endlessly. Their resilience, beauty and quiet presence always remind me to stop and appreciate.

7. Becca, Groundswell Scotland & my daughter Ella 🌊
Watching kindness in action through Becca. Groundswell’s surf therapy work for women is special. And Ella, heading to Camp America soon, continues to amaze me with her courage and spirit. One awesome little human bean.

Truthfully?
Women inspire me. Kind people inspire me. Brave conversations inspire me.

This morning started in the sauna.

A proper space before the world started asking for things.
And I found myself thinking…
Why do we leave our best thinking for the gaps that barely exist?
Because if you’re self-employed, you’ll know this rhythm:
You’re always “on”.

Ideas, decisions, pressure, responsibility… all sitting with you.

You can have a great business and still feel like you’re carrying it alone.
What’s often missing isn’t capability.
It’s space.
Space to think properly.
Space to say things out loud.
Space to be challenged, supported, and sharpened.

So I’m playing with something…and it’s something that I’ve done for a while tbh
Small mentoring groups for women like you.
6–8 max.No noise. No pressure. No performance.
Just real conversations that actually move things forward.

We meet every couple of months…it could be over lunch or dinner, a walk in nature or even in the sauna and if you have a preference just let me know as I will be running a a few groups.

It sits somewhere powerful in between.
