Spend time with the authors of Sewing Quilted Patchwork Jackets on October 9th & 10th to make your own unique jacket. Whether using new fabrics or upcycling or repurposing an existing quilt, orphan blocks or fabric scraps, you will be instructed through each step of the process to handcraft a quilted jacket. You will learn to properly position blocks, add appliqué elements, layer, quilt, and construct piece-by-piece.

Register today for our 2 day workshop

Olivia’s jacket progress using the @fitforartpatterns Tabby Jacket pattern for children: she chose fabric, watched me prepare the pattern pieces and cut the fabric, sat for a couple of fittings (big changes needed on sleeve length, a sleeve cuff that can be removed later if it gets too tight, and a big hem in the bottom that can be readjusted as she grows), and then proudly showed off the final version. Good choices, grandgirl! #makersgottamake❤️ #sewingwithgrandkids

For the last three days, we were at our final main quest of Debbie and Cathy’s Very Specific Road Trip: a sewing retreat run by @fitforartpatterns. My goal was to plan, cut, and build this jacket, shown here in various stages until (nearly) complete (a bit of hand sewing yet to do. It is based on a Rain or Shine Variation of their Tabula Rasa Jacket pattern. Fit for Art owners Rae and Carrie were on hand 8 hours a day with advice, fitting help, pattern adjustments, troubleshooting, and cheerleading. More in the next post. #friendssince1972 #vsrt
