After the LAAward program, 11 intrepid friends celebrated with a lovely dinner at the Capitol Grill in Kansas City. Of the 7 women there, 5 were wearing tops stitched with Love by Rae. Carrie has finished her Happy Feet Sneakers, just in time to take them along to the ASDP Conference. Can’t wait to show them off! The fabric she used came from a set of hand dyed pieces purchased at a sewing expo in February 2020. These sneaks are so fun and satisfying to create! Rae had several teachers and mentors when she was learning to sew and then growing into a professional custom clothier. Read about a few of them in this week's blog post tracking the arc of Rae's sewing career. Now she tries to pay it forward by encouraging and mentoring young sewists. This is also part of the mission of the ASDP Charitable Foundation, which Rae has been involved with since its inception.
