SGA was warmly welcomed by FIU’s D.C. office, connecting us with inspiring individuals and proud FIU alumni on Capitol Hill. This trip was more than impactful; it was inspiring, and an experience we hope every Panther gets to have.🐾

🇺🇸 SGA in Washington, D.C.! ✈️

We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to experience one of the most historic and influential cities in our nation. During our trip, we connected with our very own FIU interns working alongside members of Congress and FIU alumni making an impact on Capitol Hill.

An unforgettable experience filled with learning, connection, and Panther pride!

DC FLY-IN Fall 2026 Recap!: Day 3🏢📝

Looking back at our last day of The Humanities Edge Fall 2026 D.C. Fly-In!

Friday started with a visit to the @ngadc where we joined a tour of works by Leonardo da Vinci, Claude Monet, and Vincent van Gogh. We then walked through the NGA’s Sculpture Garden to Pavilion Cafe for a bonding lunch. We continued exploring D.C. on foot, heading to the @librarycongress where we were welcomed by Librarian, Marcella Stranieri. Our team secured library cards, explored the library’s collection, and admired its architecture. We also had a conversation about student resources and career advice. We ended our day with a lovely walk back to the hotel.

We hope you enjoyed this D.C. trip that connected us with humanities in a special way. See you around on campus!🩵🐾

DC FLY-IN Fall 2026 Recap: Day 1✈️🏛️

Come with The Humanities Edge as we look back on our Fall 2026 D.C. Fly-In!

Last Wednesday, we kicked things off at FIU in Washington, D.C. with a luncheon and panel discussion, hosted by Director of Student Experience and Impact, Dr. Michelle Castro. Focused on opportunities in the humanities, students learned from the journeys and expertise ofTina Menendez (National Air and Space Museum), Lola Clairmont (Sidra Collaborative), Lidia Llompart (FIU alumna and student at American University), Hally Silberg (Capitol Jewish Museum), and Michelle May-Curry (DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities). We then visited the @nationalportraitgallery and the @americanart where the museum’s director, Lynda Hartigan, welcomed us.

Thanks to everyone who helped make such a strong start to our trip!🩵🐾
