We don’t wait for change. We make it.

If your child has ever needed speech therapy, this matters to you.

Right now, decisions are being made that could impact how speech-language therapy is valued and reimbursed. And while “reimbursement rates” sounds like something that belongs in a boring meeting somewhere far away from our kids… the consequences absolutely do not.

When reimbursement doesn’t keep up with the actual cost of providing care, clinics struggle to hire and keep SLPs. Providers leave. Insurance options shrink. Waitlists grow. Families drive farther. And sometimes, services simply become unavailable.

We’ve already lived pieces of that reality with Jaxson.

We bounced between clinics and therapists before finally finding consistency. And now? My nonverbal little boy is intentionally making choices with his eyes and learning to communicate using an eye-gaze AAC device—something that once wasn’t even in the cards for him. So I don’t hear “reimbursement rates.”

I hear access.
I hear communication.
I hear independence.
I hear my child’s voice.

The SPEAK project is collecting stories from families RIGHT NOW, because decision-makers need to understand what these numbers actually look like outside of a spreadsheet.

If an SLP has changed your child’s life, please take a few minutes and tell them. You do not have to be an SLP. Parents, caregivers, patients and loved ones—this is where we come in. And then SHARE THIS. Because there are thousands of families who have no idea this conversation is even happening.

We cannot wait until the waitlists are longer, the providers are gone, or the clinics are struggling to stay open to decide we should’ve said something.
