Too Much Glue

@flashlightpress
@zacretz

🧴 Oh, what a sticky, silly, GLUEY adventure! This one had us laughing from beginning to end, and the kids absolutely loved it! It certainly got Max thinking about what it would be like to create a mess like this himself! And really, who didn’t cover their hands in PVA glue as a child, wait for it to dry and then peel it off like a second layer of skin? Those were the days, haha!

😂 Too Much Glue is bursting with humour, imagination and the kind of wonderful chaos that makes reading aloud so much fun. The playful language, hilarious expressions and increasingly ridiculous situations had us wondering just how much stickier things could possibly get!

🎨 The illustrations are fantastic! Bright, colourful and wonderfully exaggerated, every page is filled with little details that add to the humour. There’s so much happening that you can’t help but stop, look and laugh before turning the page.

💛 What I particularly enjoyed was the celebration of childhood creativity. Sometimes the biggest messes come from the biggest imaginations, and there’s something rather lovely about a story that embraces that enthusiasm. Beneath all the silliness is a gentle reminder that creativity doesn’t always need to be neat or perfect to become something special.

✨ A wonderfully entertaining picture book that encourages imagination, celebrates individuality and reminds us that even the stickiest situations can turn into something memorable!

🇺🇸 A big thank you to @flashlightpress for kindly sharing a digital copy with us. We had such a fun time reading this one together!

Let's Talk...back to school!

We are a couple weeks in now and I'm finally feeling like we are getting into a routine. How about your household?

Thank you so much to #partner @flashlightpress for sending me this #gifted copy of Set Sail For School. It's so clever and fun. Each page ends with a ...and one more word left in a sentence you find on the next page. Each one was a little surprise and not the word you'd expect 😂made it so fun to read. For example, the class played duck duck....seagull! lol It's a great book for getting back to school.

When does your district school start? We are late, the Wednesday before Labor Day, and don't get out until mid June.

@flashlightpress has two new books that bring plenty of play for the coming school year!

SET SAIL FOR SCHOOL by Daryl-Lynne Gottier and Gal Weizman turns a familiar experience (the school day) into an adventure. It’s a delightfully engaging book that combines the familiar and unexpected, making a fun read-aloud where children will want to chime in. And Gal’s art add SO MUCH character to the story. Expressive illustrations pull readers into the excitement of Jack’s school day on the high seas with fun details to notice throughout. The end papers even differ from beginning to end!

MY MONSTER ALPHABET COLORING BOOK drawn by Howard McWilliam playfully brings a most beloved series (the I Need My Monster books) to the table where children can play with and color their favorite monsters and make monsterly alphabet connections that will bring on the giggles. My preschooler loved guessing what each letter stood for (U for upside down brought out the belly laughs)!

I Always ALWAYS Get My Way

Written by Thad Krasnesky & illustrated by David Parkins

😅 Oh Emmy…

👧🏽 At just three years old, Emmy very quickly discovers that “I’m only three!” can get her out of almost anything. A mess? She’s only three. Someone else gets the blame? She’s only three. A little bit of chaos here and there? Well… you get the idea.

😂 The funnier part is watching her realise just how far she can push it, and honestly, you can’t even blame her for trying! The expressions throughout the illustrations make it even better, especially that very pleased-with-herself little face when Emmy thinks she’s gotten away with something again.

‼️ But Mum and Dad can only take so much… and by the end, they’ve had enough!

🙈 Such a cheeky, playful read about testing boundaries, pushing your luck and that wonderful little-kid logic that somehow makes complete sense to them.

🫶🏽 And I think every parent reading this will recognise at least a little bit of Emmy in their own child… I sure do

💡 Question is… how much can an “I’m only three!” really get you out of?

🥰 Thank you Flashlight Press for this funny title, the kids really enjoyed it! Available online at flashlightpress.com
