We are excited to announce @chewygluten from @realmrooftopdc a featured chef at the Creole Food Festival in NY with @timeoutmarketnewyork. Chef Chaz Brown is a Trinidadian-American chef, culinary innovator, and entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience across fine dining, restaurant development, and food technology.

A graduate of the French Culinary Institute, his career includes work in renowned kitchens such as Nobu Manhattan, Fatty Crab, and Le Bec-Fin, along with national television appearances on Top Chef and Around the World in 80 Plates.

Rooted in a deep passion for farm-to-table cooking, he draws inspiration from Trinidadian and West African ingredients and traditions to tell stories through food. As co-founder of xtraCHEF, he helped revolutionize back-of-house operations. Today, he is combining his culinary and entrepreneurial expertise with his partners Chuck and Kris of the Maren Co.

Immigrants and immigrant small businesses power New York ⚡️💸⚙️🗽!

Last week, MOIA Commissioner @faiza_n_ali and our team joined @nycequitycommish to visit @flatbush_central, in the heart of Little Caribbean and Little Haiti.

For over 30 years, this marketplace has been a central third space for Brooklyn locals and a commercial hub where neighbors and visitors can get authentic Caribbean food and goods. In recent years, it has become home to a community workspace and business incubator for local entrepreneurs, facilitated by @mangrove.nyc, giving them the tools, skills, and knowledge to build their businesses and create pathways to wealth.

Some people don’t just cook—they answer a calling.

While visiting the Flatbush Caribbean Market in Brooklyn, we had the pleasure of meeting Isra Gordon of @MintPorchMeals.

As a Metabolic & Holistic Health Coach, Chef, and Functional Health Practitioner, Isra believes that the ingredients matter—and being in mint condition matters too. Through years of study, research, and a genuine passion for helping others, she’s created an alkaline, plant-based menu designed to nourish from the inside out. 🔬🌿

We sampled some of her delicious drinks and, before long, found ourselves talking about digestive health, daily habits, and how often we push through discomfort instead of listening to what our bodies are telling us.

It was a reminder that Food is Therapy. Every meal is an opportunity to care for ourselves, fuel our bodies, and be more intentional about our health.
