Lovely parties, warmth & daftness on the dancefloor. Autumn dates @margateartsclub: Wrekin Havoc 17 Oct, Pete Blaker 14 Nov 💜 TIX ⬇️

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

The great Dolly Parton passed one month ago today, which seems like a good time to post the tribute set I did @margateartsclub back on 29 August*. It was wonderful to play a two-hour selection of classics, covers, curveballs and deep cuts to a full house of Dolly lovers and celebrate her life and her music.

It was a true joy doing a deep dive into Dolly's back catalogue for this (although if you can get through the first 20 minutes without shedding a tear, you are stronger than me - girl wrote some of the most heartbreaking songs ever recorded). Dolly's enormous love and humanity comes through in everything she performed and I genuinely feel I'm a better person for having immersed myself in all things Dolly, her goodness is contagious - hopefully a little of it rubbed off. And of course her ferocious talent and famous attention to detail means the production on all of these songs is just so, so good.

Parton-Philistines, if you think you can't handle two hours of Dolly - just listen to this! You absolutely can... She goes all over the show! It's incredible. Go on, surprise yourself.

Link is over on my Soundcloud (Mixcloud won't let you upload more than three songs by the same artist, go figure) - hit up the bio or head here: bit.ly/FIYDolly

We love you Dolly, you wonderful woman. Thanks for having us, MAC, and thanks to @artsclubradio_margate for the livestreaming xx

* re-recorded last night because we forgot to press record on the evening, whoops :(

One for the diary!

Following on the heels of incredible parties with Conrad Idjut and Red Rack'em earlier this year, Floor Is Yours have now tempted legendary diggers Wrekin Havoc down to the Thanet coast for an autumn extravaganza on Sat 17 Oct.

Creating some of the best Balearic-disco productions and edits out there (in 2025, their EP for Talking Drums, featuring the magnificent Shine A Light, went stratospheric after receiving heavy support from DJ Harvey in the greatest clubs across the globe), the Havocs have also been barnstorming the UK's most discerning festivals such as their residency at Rotation Garden Party and Wildwood, with their sets routinely described by dancers as the best of the weekend.

Over the years they've shared the billing with the likes of Idjut Boys, Mark Seven, Make A Dance, Nancy Noise, Luke Una, Colleen 'Cosmo' Murphy, Bill Brewster, Richard Sen and Piers Harrison. These days they favour a handful of carefully chosen appearances each year - and Floor Is Yours at MAC is one of these.

Crate diggers extraordinaire, Stu and Rich will be reaching deep into their vaults for this one, with a four-hour set that digs deep into their collections - expect the chugged-out, the bugged-out, the weird, the wild, the warm and the wonky… Unshazamable? Probably. Dancefloor havoc? Guaranteed. This is one you really won't want to miss.

Tickets via our website, Link in bio etc

Margate was a blast!

Huge thanks to @floorisyoursmargate for inviting me to play at @margateartsclub which feels like my spiritual home. My set felt really comfortable which is completely down to playing for people who appreciate what you do and of course the perfect environment to play in.

I love the @isonoe_london mixer and DEEP record bins. The sound is ace and I always feel warmly welcomed by Luke and the team.

Here’s some highlights from a packed weekend.

1 - Outside MAC before my set. I wasn’t nervous. I was EXCITED.

2 - Playing Larry Heard loud and proud

3 - The architects of the whole weekend: huge thanks to Jen and Glenn for the invite and consummate hosting

4 - ‘I do it all…just for you’

5 - I’ve not seen Danny for ages and he kindly gifted me a copy of his insane new Coconut Dreams comp for my 50th. Was so nice to catch up.

6 - Jen giving me the guided tour

7 - breakfast courtesy of Danny on the final day. Yum!

8 - @nonna.fab hand delivered his new EP on the way to France the day before I left so I HAD to drop it. Sounding ace!

9 - So nice to catch up with Ali Renault. We met at Corsica Studios in the mid 2000s - and we are still pals 20 years later.

10 - Having an ‘auld lang syne’ of a time. Paging @lukeunabomber

11 - It wasn’t the end of my set but I wanted to say thanks. Lovely people who got down all night and I really enjoyed playing records on Saturday.

Next up is a 4 hour set at @publichousehifi in Newcastle on October 3rd. Can’t wait!

Red Rack’em (aka Danny Berman) is the godlike genius behind some of the 21st century’s most iconic tracks. Everyone remembers where they were when they first heard Wonky Bassline Disco Banger, the house tune of 2016; we loved 2024’s sound of the summer, Italo Disco Banger, so much we named a hot sauce after it!

Danny’s been making great music for two decades (see also his Hot Coins alias) and his tunes have been championed by everyone from DJ Harvey to Four Tet, Moodymann, The Blessed Madonna and - get in! - Elton John.

Come check out his set for Floor is Yours on Saturday, where we celebrate 10 years since the release of Wonky Bassline Disco Banger.

THIS WEEK! WHAT’S ON!

Here’s what we’ve got for you, it’s going to be an extra special weekend 💘💘

Get into story telling and music making at Song Salon, hosted by @mrrees_ and open to all. ❤️

Sky Rivers, joining us all the way from Los Angeles, CA, is a true force within the west coast underground scene. 💃🏼🎶

You’d be hard-pressed to miss him playing one of LA’s staple scene defining parties, of which he is a regular and favourite at many. His collections spans years, with his journey within music beginning back in 1995. Sky is both an exciting DJ and selector, playing with a knowledge and intuition only time and love for the craft could afford; carrying the baton of underground music and culture and continually takes it to new lengths.

His sound is rooted in characteristic textures, restraint and low-end authority - guiding the dance floor through immersive atmospheres designed for depth over excess. With a deep understanding of movement and space, Sky Rivers continues to bring storytelling, soul, and a deep respect for the culture.

Joined by local talent Daniel Anthony, don’t miss these two aligning forces - we’re in for a very special journey.

Free entry between 7-9pm, £8 thereafter.

A veeeery special night of wonkiness. Second release tickets still available! 💨💿🪩

Floor Is Yours is an occasional series of parties celebrating the DJs and producers we love with a simple brief: fun, warmth and daftness on the dancefloor. Music to tug at your heart, make you laugh, make you dance... Having kicked off proceedings with a truly epic inaugural party in February with Idjut Boys’ Conrad McDonnell tearing the roof off, we now present Volume 2 - starring the one and only Red Rack’em!

Just posted our latest @floorisyoursmargate set to Mixcloud - another excursion down @thesundeckmargate, although the weather gods definitely didn't play ball this time, with the first cold, grey and blustery day seen in weeks! 😢 Thanks to all who braved the wind and joined us on the beach, you legends. (The tech gods were also having some fun as the recording shat itself an hour before the end... Anyway...) We kick off with lovely dub styles before going all over the damn show and ending up on a big old Latino tip 🎉

Make sure you check out our co-conspirator @kaybar007's 4-6pm set once she uploads it on her return from We Out Here too - a wonderful summery soundtrack for the only properly sunny bit of the day! Thanks for joining us, Kay 😎 xx

It was so good to return to @forest_london this week after a little summer break, bringing with us a fridge's worth of cool music for hot times - musical air conditioning for the soul, if you will. Boxfresh beauties, a few stars of our @thesundeckmargate set last weekend, some gems that have been on our must-play list for ages, just waiting for the perfect time... My perfect summer soundtrack - but I would say that. Link in bio as always, enjoy. Thanks to all the artists & our lively livestream chat room folks too xx

Mega thanks to all who tuned in yesterday for our debut Floor Is Yours show on @1btnradio & joined us on the chat - as always, your support is hugely appreciated. We really had a whole load of fun (quite literally) in the sun 🫠 getting back behind the mics and can't wait for the next show. As the graphic says (I never much liked my right eye anyway), we're officially the 4th Tuesday of every month from 2-4pm, if you want to get those dates in the calendar, ha.

The show is now up on both Mixcloud and Soundcloud (links in bio) and here's the tracklist - so much goodness from old and new. Big thanks to the artists ♥️. Keeping it languid xx
