October 2026: @taukomagazine No. 21 has launched! I’ve been wanting to make a trench coat for a while now, but I always found it a bit daunting. When I saw it was included in this Tauko Make & Share, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to give it a try! And just in time for fall!

This coat definitely took me a long time to make and I’m really proud of it. There are a lot of steps and a whole lot of pieces, but I’m so happy I went for it. I love how it turned out! I struggled a little while making this. I felt like I was guessing on a lot of steps, especially with techniques I was doing for the first time. But I was pleasantly surprised when I did it right!

I found this beautiful chocolate brown bull denim from @fluidplusdrape and it’s just so great. It’s a super soft brushed bull denim that has the perfect amount of weight and drape for this coat. It was so nice to work with. I really love it and want to get the other colors!

I’m so happy with the results of my second go at the #valleypinafore by @emilylightly . It is made from a cotton corduroy from @fluidplusdrape and the facings, pockets and ties are from thrifted Joann’s satin (poly?) fabric. For some reason the corduroy comes off more pink in photos but it’s really a deeper copper color like in the 2nd photo.

I didn’t expect pinafores to be my style but I’m about to make sooo many more. This pattern is definitely one of my favorites. This time I made view A and sized up one to a size 24. The pockets ended up too low, not sure how I managed that, so I’ll have to go back and fix them at some point.

I have once again made another @paradisepatterns #soligdress 🫣 What can I say, the heart (closet) wants what it wants.

I made View B in the longer length (plus a few inches), with a self-facing (shelf bra without the elastic). This is actually my first time sewing with 100% linen I purchased, and the experience was just as lovely as I imagined it would be. I’m looking forward to treasuring this dress for years to come 💛

I made this a month or two ago out of 2 yards of the most beautiful Daffodil linen from @fluidplusdrape It was my first order from them and it certainly won’t be my last!

PS My dog is not a paid actor, she just loves the camera 😜

Finished my new fav set over the weekend! I used the cutest vintage jersey stripe fabric from @fluidplusdrape and made the Freddy top by @sewingmachina + Tamarama pants (graded from M at the waist to XS at the legs) by @swimstylepatterns. This is the comfiest set and I can’t wait to wear it all season long!

Cordelia dresses for fall!!! Absolutely yes!!!! I’m dying to style this @milena_silvano vest and love it paired with this Cordelia dress modified with tips from the instructions and button front tutorial video on my feed.
Maxi Cordelia with lace? Can’t go wrong. Mini Cordelia in homespun cotton? Absolutely yes!
The only question is will it cool off enough for boots or do I still get to wear my @birdofflightshoes Ada flats 😍

Lengthened perennial blouse by @sewnwithgrit in this homespun cotton is sooo giving fall I absolutely had to make it months ago knowing I wouldn’t have time to now. Present me thanks past me 🤝

Seriously the picnic set pattern (BY ME AND ONLY ME) is the most versatile pattern ever 🙌🏼😉

Most realistically I will live in @sewliberated Arthur pants… like I’ve said before, I will wear these to sleep and for the day and potentially repeat… I love love love these pants. Paired with honeygirl tees, @summerhaus_ Nico pullovers, maybe quilt coats if the weather permits 😮‍💨

Another day another circus fit 🎪🤡

Helped Bethany @fluidplusdrape pick the most recent batch of Japanese fabrics and I absolutely fell in love with these faux feedsack panels!

Pants are self drafted, I just used the width of the fabric folded in half and added a front/back crotch curve. I had the perfect thrifted stripe fabric in my stash to add a 4" ruffle at the bottom. So easy/fun and I was able to get them done with just two panels of fabric!

These tops have been a major hit at all my markets and bring a lot of joy! I haven't been able to decide which one to keep for myself but this little dog spoke to me. I'm working on my next big batch, they can be found @the.vintage.industry !

A little Friday update

I have been slow going on my knitting and sewing recently. I had many small projects that I had done here and there, but I decided to take a break since I have been busy, and I want to take my time in planning out my next bigger projects, which will be around fall/winter makes. But I have one big project I had on the back burner, which is my rue quilt coat by @spaghetti_western_sewing . I am practically done I just haven’t been able to figure out the button situation. Originally I wanted buttons, but the quilting fabric was just too thick and it wasn’t working, so I switched to snaps but I feel like that is a big learning curve in itself so I think I am just going to try the button route again. I added interface on a test scrap, and it seems to work, so fingers cross it works out and I can officially finish my rue quilt coat.

I picked up this book recently, ‘the Greek revolution and the violent birth of nationalism’ by yanni kotsonis. I have been in a reading slump for the latter half of the year and I am just really craving a good non-fiction read for some reason, and this particular book was just speaking to me. Here’s a little summary: Yanni Kotsonis demonstrates how modern nationalism was forged out of the clash of old and new empires on the edge of Europe

I bought a new companion for my sewing machine, and apparently this was the secret option. He just silently watches and judges me while i sew lol

I got a new organizer from Ross. A great way to store a lot of the notions and tools that come with sewing.

Some projects i need to get to that are already cut out, i just got to finish the rue quilt coat and find the motivation to start them

I am compiling my fall fabrics together and planning out my fall projects. I am still waiting on a few more fabrics, but you can tell im leaning into blues and browns for the fall.

Going for comfy, casual, simple and striped 😅

There’s little to no sewing time postpartum with twins and a 13 month old plus two other kids etc… but these tees whip up so quick! It feels rewarding especially having made something I know I’ll wear SO MUCH. Those are the little wins I need from the sewing room right now. BUT jeans are one of my favorite garments to sew and it’s just been so long 🥹 I also think I’ll be excited for a slow down project after some quick tees.

Sewing knits is something I never loved til recently. I’m definitely a big tee kinda gal and that’s what I’ll be making more of. I love the drop shoulder and oversized fit. The only things I change are the hem length, I use the curved hem length at the center front, but make it straight so it’s slightly longer than the patterns straight hem length, I also lower the front neckline around 1/2”

I love a raglan sleeve and am so stoked to see them everywhere right now! Also stoked the Rocky raglan came out just in time for me to really want to make a few! I made this pattern on launch day and it was the first thing I made after having the twins. I planned a few basics for this one, but also want to use some stripe leftovers for some fun Rocky’s too!

Oh the cedar pants. I’ve been dreaming about these for ages. I’ve been pregnant for ages and not able to wear this kind of pant, but with this pattern having an elastic back waistband I’m thinking it’s my ticket to hop back in! I knew the pattern was a need and obviously I’m here to support indie pattern designers so I bought it on launch day even though I knew I couldn’t wear them for a while 🙌🏼 I have noted my pre pregnancy measurements and taken new measurements and believe I’m landing on a size I’ll be happy with now and later. This camo ripstop is so eager to be cedar pants 😉 and the purple canvas I bought ages ago to toile these pants. I keep seeing these imogen + Willie jeans come up that have a tinge of purple and I’m hoping if I get a wearable toile out of the purple canvas, I can play around with rit dye for something similar.
