What’s happening, fam? It’s been busy on my side, but in a good way. Slowly but surely, we’re getting there!

The next episode of The KrayZone is an ADE special with none other than Flux Vortex.

A DJ and producer moving between Goa and New Delhi, Flux Vortex brings jazz and soul influences into his low-end-heavy productions. Moving between sounds like dub, jungle and deconstructed club, his work never feels locked into one lane.

What I really like about his sound is just how distinctive it is. So much music these days seems to rely on the same sample packs and production techniques, which makes listening to Flux’s work genuinely refreshing. He brings something of his own to the table, weaving influences from his roots into his sound in a way that feels natural rather than formulaic.

I’m looking forward to bringing his sound into The KrayZone and letting the Echobox fam hear what he’s about.

Tune in 22-10 from 16:00-17:00 on Echobox.radio, or come by the studio in person!

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT - flux vortex

31/10/2026 @mezzanineldn

——

All the way from Goa, India 🇮🇳, flux vortex is bringing a sound that’s impossible to pin down. For the past decade he’s been blending dub, drum and bass and IDM into something that hits deep and feels endless, driving rhythms, heavy grooves, and textures pulled from classical, jazz and underground dance music all woven together. Cerebral but still hits the body. It’s carved him a lane of his own in India’s independent electronic scene, from main stages like Ziro Festival to shows across the globe. Catch him at WAVES this Halloween.

Stories from a Kargili Kitchen experienced Goa’s warmth through our wonderful participants and our collaboration with @altfoodco, and its spirit of openness and experimentation.

Goa has always been special to us, and sharing the stories of our journey with the book here felt, in many ways, like a homecoming. We’re incredibly grateful to the folks at Alt Food Co, who persevered with us through the (many!) hurdles of India Post to bring ingredients all the way from Kargil — so that we could do more than talk about the food: we could cook it, share it, and feed people the stories we had spent years gathering.

The difficulties of working with Kargili ingredients outside of Ladakh come from the fact that there are no ready vendors who package and sell Kargili produce, slow postal services meandering the mountains and the fact that most of these ingredients cannot be substituted by what grows in other parts of the country.

We received our Kargili parcels on D day at 4pm for an event at 6:30!

These challenges also remind us to honour indigenous food systems and ecology which can't simply be recreated or transported anywhere.

We are indebted to Ache Haqima who diligently collected and dried greens like Shaintha, Snyu, Kororo, Filil and Dhaniya for us. We would not be able to introduce true flavours of Kargil beyond the apricots and barley without her.

We are also grateful to everyone who showed up, cooked with us, listened, asked questions, and made this evening so special. ❤️

Kargili greens we got for the event:
Shaintha (Chicorium SSP)
Kororo (Moldovian Dragonhead)
Snyu (local Bathua or Pigweed)
Filil (Wild Himalayan mint) mixed with local corriander

Innards and offal for Shanang (Goat/ sheep sausages)

Sneha helps the participants in their attempt at making Prapu pasta.

The participants were asked to taste, smell and feel the various ingredients and guess what they are. After the guessing, they were to come up with a Kargili recipe according to what they believe the food must be in this part of the Himalayas. The idea was to interact with and challenge our innate notions that we attach to a place.

The Freaks came out.
The hive descended.

There were things we can tell you about.
And there were things we probably shouldn't talk about.

But we will remember them.

🍄 THE FOREST GOT A LITTLE WEIRD THIS WEEKEND

Shroom Sabha 2026 at Varanashi Organic Farm turned the forest into a living audiovisual world 🌿🌀

The Mystical Mycelial Main Stage, inspired by underground mycelial networks, was conceptualised and built by @lostkidsgarage using foraged natural and recycled materials from the farm itself 🍄

Visuals came through a B2B between @optikbloom and @notreallyzoh, while @alt.spaces._ curated the evening with @shivharishankar b2b @flux.vortex, jamming with the mushrooms 🌌

Breathwork by @lishasinha added another layer to the experience, all tied together by Shroom Sabha’s idea of collective consciousness and connection with nature 🌱

Music, art, ecology and community all sharing the same space.

some key takeaways from our 12 hrs between home and luru:

@freedomtofish got introduced to Dee En time. we think she is still getting used to it. @ashreygoel chose his car poorly. @hakimetc disapproves. Nothing like a rainy drive through the ghats. Then we ripped 140 an hour to make it in time for the best and most important part of the whole tour — benne dose at Davangere.

Bengaluru pahunch ke kya hua? More on that in the next one!

For four years now Goa has been our home, which means everyone here has at some point been asked to carry an amp, find a cable, move a table, come to soundcheck and inevitably become agents of the Dee En mission 🫡 By the grace of the patron saints of broke bands, borrowed gear and people who keep showing up, the show goes on.

On July 18 we did it again, this time at @hideaway.goa. By the time we went on, half our friends had already worked a shift and the other half had become the audience.

@roarwithsimba was had 🍻, radical outfits were worn and, more importantly, Cancer babies were celebrated ♋️🎂

All was right with the world, briefly. Aur kya chahiye. Bas phir hum Bangalore nikal gaye.

More on that jald hi.
