Day 1 of my first solo trip!
* Started with an unreasonably early arrival to the airport.
* Booked the trip with the only travel agents I trust!
* Flying in the dark is a beautiful sight being above the clouds, I couldn’t get a picture of the sunrise, but that was also stunning.
* The mandatory DD stop
* After a medical emergency on the plane (everything was fine) finally got to my home for the next week, unpacked and chilled by the pool
* I love all the cacti everywhere!
* I specifically chose to not stay at a resort to not be stuck on the resort and to explore Aruba and to learn their culture. In this I found a local restaurant down the street. I had no idea what I ordered, but it was absolutely delicious!

Found this while wandering around Ottawa and the name alone made me stop. 😂

For God Shakes may have one of the better milkshake-bar names I’ve seen, and the strawberry shake was exactly the kind of unnecessary travel decision I support.

Also mixed in a couple of the more casual eats from the trip.

What’s your travel weakness: milkshakes, pizza, pastries or something else?

I just flew from Ottawa (YOW) back home to Hamilton (YHM) with @PorterAirlines. Even though we hit a 3-hour delay right after I checked in, the incredible service and airport layout turned a potential headache into a 10/10 experience.

Here is how a great airline and a world-class airport made the wait a breeze:

🏛️ The YOW Airport Experience:

Zero Friction: I sailed through check-in and security. The single-terminal design means it’s only a 1 to 5-minute walk from security to your gate.

Great Food & Lounges: Skip generic fast food for local Ottawa staples like La Bottega Nicastro paninis or Big Rig Brewery. For an upgrade, the Aspire Lounge near Gate 18 is a perfect premium oasis.

Spotless & Smart: The PA speaker system is incredibly crisp—you can actually hear and understand every announcement clearly.

📣 Top-Tier Communication & Onboard Perks:

Constant Updates: The Porter gate crew treated us wonderfully and kept us continually updated with total transparency.

The Comfort: No middle seats ever on their Dash aircraft , meaning plenty of room to stretch out.

The Extras: Free premium snacks and complimentary wine served in real glassware once in the air. 🍷🍪

🏡 The Hamilton Advantage

Landing at Hamilton International (YHM) means bypassing Toronto's chaos entirely. I went from the plane to my car curbside in minutes.

Delays happen, but how they are handled matters. Huge kudos to Porter and the YOW team for keeping passengers happy, comfortable, and well-informed! 👏🛩️

Thank you to our Summit sponsors! ✈️

The inaugural Aviation Inclusivity Summit brought close to 100 people together in Ottawa, and it wouldn’t have been possible without these incredible sponsors!

Thank you for believing in this work. 🌈
