This past winter semester, I exhibited my sculpture ā€˜Magenta’ at the FOFA Gallery in their winter exhibition ā€˜Grieving Reveries’ along with some very talented artists✨

I’m extremely grateful to María Andreína Escalona @lulu_escalona and the FOFA Gallery team for taking such great care in displaying, promoting, and going the extra mile for our artworks.

🌟Our exhibition was advertised in Esse Magazine

🌟A full catalogue was made including essays created by multiple writers for our artworks, as well as featuring our artist statements, bios, and photos of our work. Rebekah Walker beautifully wrote an essay covering my work and the work of two other lovely artists (Cat Lipiec and GenevieĢ€ve Bouthot). The essay is called ā€˜The Influence of Materiality on Recollection & Memory.’ The full publication can be viewed on the FOFA Gallery Website!

🌟I was invited to speak at an artist talk with several skilled artists, expertly moderated by Kate Bursey.

🌟Our exhibition was written about in the newspaper, The Concordian

🌟Now you can find my work on the Concordia University website!

š˜›š˜©š˜¦ š˜Œš˜¢š˜³š˜µš˜© š˜žš˜¦ š˜Šš˜¢š˜³š˜³š˜ŗ is an exhibition that brings land-based practices and digital technologies in conversation. Why are nature and technology often seen as separate? We are composed of the same matter, minerals, water, and stardust. Similarly, our phones, circuits, and satellites are constructed from extracted metals and earthly elements. We carry the earth within us and bear a responsibility for the technologies produced from its resources.

While the theme is expansive, I am approaching it through a relational curatorial framework grounded in dialogues and past exchanges with artists whose work I deeply admire and with whom I’ve had the privilege of sharing time these last few years. I am so grateful that they trusted me with their work.
Putting this exhibition together over the last few months has been such a thrill. It has been a dream to work with the FOFA Gallery team, a group whom I have so much respect for. Their sustainability initiative has meaningfully shaped the approach to this exhibition, and their openness to and willingness to entertain my ideas have made the process even more joyful.

This exhibition would not be possible without the collaboration and support of the many research ecosystems that make work like this possible at Concordia University, including The Milieux Institute for Arts and Culture, the Indigenous Futures Research Centre, Voltage, the Leonard and Bina Ellen Art Gallery, as well as the many people who have lent their time, knowledge, and hands to different parts of this project.

I hope this exhibition starts good conversations and brings new and old ways of thinking about our relationships to land, technology, and one another.
