Repost @foilcoltd What a day @that.designthing ✨

We had an afternoon of introducing the Shrewsbury design community to the world of foiling, followed by wonderful, funny and inspiring talks from the fantastic Simon Dixon from @dixonbaxi, @zoehitchen (@girlfanszine ) & @l4nre.

It’s always great to meet designers who are as excited about foil as we are and we loved seeing your creative ideas truly shine!

Huge thanks to Tony for putting together a fantastic debut @that.designthing and to @katylcowan @creativeboom for inviting the Foilco team along ✨

See you at the next one!

This foil is unlike anything you’ve ever seen. Moonrock, the latest innovation from @foilcoltd, creates depth, movement and texture from every single angle.

We tested Moonrock on @RDYSTDY’s bold branding, designed by Metz Studio, on a range of colourful offcuts from our workshop.

MR CUP UK & IRELAND TYPE TOUR

In a week my friend @denis.widmann and I set off on a little road trip. From October 21 to 28 we will drive from the south of England up to Birmingham and Manchester, skipping London this time since I explored its shops at length on my last visit. Then from October 29 to November 2 we will cross the Irish Sea for Dublin and its surroundings.

The idea is simple: rent a car, take turns at the wheel, wander from town to town, and visit the craftsmen and designers we have admired for years. Meetings are already set with @davesmithartist @annieatkins @florafricker , and we will stop at the Pen Museum in Birmingham, a little temple to the steel nib and the written word. In Manchester we will also visit @foilcoltd , the foil makers I have been working with for years on my calendar and Denis did this Behaus posters together. I cannot wait to finally see where the shine comes from.

The photos in this post show the artists we are going to meet. I have tagged each of them on the images, so if you do not follow them yet, take a look at their work, it is well worth it. The photos of the Pen Museum were taken by @galen_leather.

And since I am a brocanteur, we will not drive past a single flea market, antique fair or junk shop along the way.

This is where we need you. If you know a good address, a hidden market, a sign writer, a letterpress workshop or a dusty shop full of printed treasures on our route, please tell us in the comments. Every tip is welcome.
