Babajide Olatunji — studio visit ✨ Organised by @art_tafeta
Memories in July 2026
Music: @yamebantu ft @adekunlegold - On My Mind 🎶

Early July, I stepped into the studio of @babajideolatunji — invited by the wonderful team at Tafeta Gallery: Ayo, the founder who left finance to build one of London’s most important platforms for African and diasporic art, and lovely @sadiesherman.art .

And I was not prepared.

Babajide works in hyperrealism and trompe-lʼoəil — a Nigerian-born artist who first showed with Tafeta at just 24 and has not slowed down since. His large-scale portraits of are painted with a precision that makes you question what you are looking at. An eye so detailed you can see Babajide himself painted in the iris. Faces so present they follow you around the room.

In the studio, works in progress everywhere. Giant canvas still becoming. The atmosphere of a place where something important is being made.

I also had the joy of seeing my dear @tunji_akintokun, and meeting the creative and wonderful @folajuo Folaju — whose rings and eye behind the lens both deserve their own spotlight.

Thankful for moment like this.

Half Opened Eye - Exhibition Premiere✨️

Wednesday was the glorious premiere of our show Half Opened Eye curated by @sade.six at @out.house.gallery

I presented my children ‘Passages’ kiln fired enamel tiles on copper which got so much wonderful reception and engagement from our lovely audience✨️Having impromptu Artist talks, explaining process, inspiration and aspirations for my enamel practice.

Loved being in the company of incredible Artists and being held down up the phenomenal sibling collective SADE Six who held space for us to be, commune and thrive✨️

Thanks to everyone who came to support the show, engaged in conversation and celebrated with us✨️

My little heart is full💐

Thanks @amberleejade @reconcile.journal @catchdelight for the flowers, wonderful pictures and videos✨️

Special thanks to SADE Six - @dolapo_osunsina @barbara.majek @ritamajek @paul_majek and Outhouse Gallery✨️

Eku Orire O 👏🏾💐🫶🏿🌱✨️🔥

The exhibition is on till August 16th at Outhouse Camberwell London.

Roll through✨️

It's interesting how some people and family hold on to an old version of you they've created in their mind.

They judge your present through the lens of your past, never taking the time to discover, understand or ask, about the abuse, dismantling of your character, lack of love or the people that forces you to become who you have become.

While they're remembering who you were, you've quietly became and still becoming someone your younger self once needed.

Real influence isn't about being seen by everyone and as a virgo we prefer working the the shadows but always end up being seen. It's about changing the lives of the people you reach, serving your community with purpose, and leaving places better than you found them.

Keep growing. Keep believing in self, Keep building. Keep serving.

The people meant to understand your journey will recognise the difference and appreciate the journey you had to endure and how you rose above it all, and still inspire.

Change your perception. Change your life.
