To say the man in this picture was a friend would be a disservice to him and what he meant to me over 9 years of working together at @followsc4. We got to be close quickly. Eating lunch every day, playing golf after work, and going to Tigers/Lions games.

Being one of the first coworkers to know you and Shane were expecting a child. Then you having Grady and being so proud of being a father and husband finally.

When I left the college in 09 we still made a pact over the next 4 years to have lunch once a year which we did.

You retired from the college working on my old Campus Patrol gig and telling me "I don't know how you did this for a years."

Then came the day of the call telling me you retired and took the Athletic Director job at your old high school (Peck) and being able to coach your son as a life achievement.

Sadly I wake up from work tonight and find that you left us. I can't help but being shaken by this. You came so far and yet had a long way left to go.

Shane, im sorry you're left to handle the world alone without James.

Grady, your dad was an amazing man. He loved you more then you'll ever truly understand. He was proud of you and all you came to do in your short time in this world.

@jwelch2409 I'll add one of your favorite songs to this post in memory of you.

Our athletes pedaled for a purpose today during the YMCA’s Bike for the Y🚲🌟 This event raises awareness and dollars for the YMCA’s Open Arms Annual Campaign.

Teams consisted of 4 people where they pedaled for one hour, accumulating as many miles as possible, but also running into fun team building road blocks.

We love seeing our SC4 Skippers athletes out in the community💙💛
