Before there were maps, there were memories. Before there were borders, there were stories. Before continents connected through trade, they were already connected through history, culture, and shared human experiences. This is the story behind MEMORY ATLAS, a remarkable artwork by Chief Tola Wewe and the opening piece in The Thread of Continents collection. Through its intricate symbols, rich textures, and ancient patterns, Memory Atlas takes us on a journey through the foundations of human civilisation, reminding us that long before nations were named, knowledge was preserved, stories were passed down, and cultures were built. And perhaps its most powerful message is this: Before trade, there must be trust. Before cooperation, there must be understanding. And before continents can truly connect, they must first understand the histories that shaped them. At Artnovation, this is the story we continue to tell through art, culture, and global collaboration. 🌍 The experience continues beyond the physical exhibition! Echoes of Heritage In this series, titled Echoes of Heritage, I explore the dynamic tension between ancestral craftsmanship and contemporary urban life. The central piece, a large-scale handmade Adire textile, is more than fabric; it is a visual narrative. I have employed traditional oniko (raffia-tie-dye) techniques to create a field of thousands of small, imperfect dots—a metaphor for the shared history and collective labor of my community. This dark, indigo-black cosmic field is dramatically punctuated by three radiant sunburst motifs (Oòrùn) in bold yellow and crimson. These symbols represent energy, clarity, and the individual entrepreneurial spirit—the ‘light’ that illuminates the path forward for the artisan. By draping this vibrant, living creation against the weathered, textured facade of a historic building, I am making a deliberate statement about continuity. The architecture, with its aged stone and decorative balustrades, is a testament to generations of habitation and trade. The Adire, while contemporary, is born from the same soil and spirit as these walls. This work celebrates the symbiotic relationship between cultural preservation and economic empowerment. Each piece of Adire represents a living heritage that sustains livelihoods and strengthens cultural identity. I invite the viewer to see the beauty not just in the patterns, but in the profound resilience and history they embody. The smile of the artisan pictured is the ultimate reflection of this pride and prosperity. . . #explore #xpressionale_afrodesignz #atelewoayo #adire #artist

CITIES OF LIGHT Where cities remember, create and connect. Deep blue becomes the city's landscape after sunset—revealing patterns, symbols, and traces of human imagination. No recognisable streets or monuments appear here. Instead, the work explores the invisible forces that make cities thrive: culture, commerce, creativity and human exchange. From Lagos to Milan and beyond, Cities of Light invites us to see the city not simply as architecture, but as a living creative ecosystem. The journey continues at the ARTNOVATION Digital Museum. artnovation.art/museum. Masterpiece by @weweadeola Curated by @folukemichael Milan, Italy Thank you @style_with_taiwo for the fashion statement by the Cities of Light.

CITIES OF LIGHT A city after sunset. Deep blues become a space where patterns, symbols and fragments begin to glow—like memories emerging from the darkness. Cities of Light explores the unseen life of cities: the people, ideas, exchanges and dreams that give them meaning. The city is more than its buildings. It is the story of what people create together. — Cities of Light Tola Wewe The journey continues at the ARTNOVATION Digital Museum. artnovation.art/museum.

Your fashion brand may get people’s attention, but your personal brand is what makes them believe in the vision. In fashion, people don’t just connect with what you create, they connect with the person, story and purpose behind it. Building a powerful personal brand creates trust, strengthens your identity and gives your fashion brand a voice that stands out in a crowded industry. A special thank you to @folukemichael and the amazing team at @artnovation_studio for inviting me to speak and share my journey and insights on the importance of personal branding when building a fashion brand. It was a pleasure to connect, inspire and contribute to the next generation of creatives. #fashion #nigeria #milan #london #nigerian
