🥕 We’re FoodCloud.
We turn surplus food into stronger communities.

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Did you know that saving just 3% of Ireland’s wasted food could provide over 50 million meals a year? 🥕🥔

We've worked with FoodCloud since the beginning, so it was great to take part in their first Irish Food Sharing Summit at Bord Bia on #WorldFoodDay!

Our Sustainability Manager, Jeni Meade, joined the Food Circle panel to share our experiences and to see how growers, retailers and communities can work together to get more good surplus food to those who need it.

A big thank you to FoodCloud for bringing everyone together and showing what can be achieved through collaboration and social entrepreneurship! 👏

Good food shouldn't go to waste! 💚

Food poverty is just regular poverty and it increasingly impacts working households and middle-income families, squeezed by the combined costs of housing, energy, childcare and everyday essentials.

During 2025, The Liberties Community Projectt distributed 20,000kg of fresh fruit and vegetables to people who needed support.
We also provided an Open Kitchen for people living in hotel accommodation without cooking facilities, alongside two free weekly cookery classes where participants learn new recipes, prepare a three-course meal and sit down to eat together. This is something we continue to do and hope to grow in the future as demand increases.

Food means more than nourishment. It is tied to identity, culture and independence. Preparing and sharing it creates opportunities to build trust, friendship and connection. Those experiences were captured through our work with Curious Broadcast on Melting Pot, a radio documentary published by Newstalkk sharing stories from The Liberties Community Project Open Kitchen programme.

FoodCloud supports this work through its subscription service and Growers Programme. That partnership makes an enormous difference to what we can offer.

We all have a moral obligation to waste less food and to ensure that surplus food reaches people who need it, efficiently and with dignity. FoodCloud demonstrates how this can be done through practical collaboration between growers, food businesses and community organisations.

Many thanks to Emily Fitzsimons for inviting The Liberties Community Project to contribute to the horticulture panel at last Friday’s FoodSharing event at Bord Bia - The Irish Food Board, alongside Jeni Meade of Meade Potatoes and Emer Gallagher Hall of Bord Bia - The Irish Food Board, with Suzanne Campbell facilitating the discussion.

It was a valuable opportunity to share The Liberties Community Project experience, to learn from other stakeholders in food production, retail, policy and re-distribution processes and build relationships that can lead to further practical collaboration

Reuse starts at home, and social enterprises across the country bring it to local communities!

Some of the most powerful reuse happens in our own wardrobes and fridges. It could be rewearing that old jumper with a different outfit than usual to get more use out of it, or finishing the leftovers before heading out for the weekly shop.

Some of our members are doing exactly this at a much bigger scale, bringing more people in, raising awareness and making an impact in their communities.

@changeclothes, amongst other things, takes donated clothes and turns them into whole new outfits. Watch the video to see an example.

@foodcloud does the fridge-clearing on a national scale. They redistribute good surplus food to family resource centres, homeless services, Meals on Wheels groups and more, where it becomes meals, pantry shelves and sharing tables.

The principle is the same: nothing useful should go to waste, whether it’s a jumper or a jar of pasta sauce.

What’s your favourite reuse habit at home? Tell us!

There's just something about Mary...

From a night at The Sugar Club in Dublin back in 2018 to the stage at this year’s Climate Carnival, Mary Robinson has been at the very heart and soul of the Climate Cocktail Club. 🍸

When we started CCC, the goal was to build an equal space where people could meet visionary leaders in person. Mary didn't just join us that evening — she stayed until every book was signed, every photo taken, and every voice heard.

Fast forward through our London relaunch in 2025 to this year’s Climate Carnival, where Mary — Co-founder of Project Dandelion @projdandelion — kicked off our session on systems.

She reminded us all that food sovereignty is a crucial form of climate action, deeply connected to land rights, health, and female-led leadership.

Joined by amazing partners like @foodcloud (closing the loop on food waste with sustainable, rescued meals), the event was a true celebration of connected, human-centered climate solutions.

Mary embodies everything CCC stands for: authentic, humble, straight-talking, and bridging local action with global vision.

Thank you, Mary, for always being our catalyst and guiding light!

📸 Swipe through to see photos of Mary at this year’s Climate Dinner Club at the Climate Carnival, Ballintubbert Gardens & House, Co. Laois!

What a brilliant day! 🌿🧵
It was wonderful to see so many inspiring initiatives all in one place, and we're proud to have been part of it. Proof that you can be sustainable even in craft!
It was also the first outing for our 2026 wall banner. A collaborative group project, but definitely Laura's baby! 👏
A huge thank you to FoodCloud for an amazing lunch, and to the Climate Action Team at Waterford City & County Council for inviting us.
And most of all, thank you to the ladies who turned up. Special welcome to our Fran from Brazil, and to a lovely Ukrainian lady who has only been in Waterford a month. So lovely to have you with us! 💛

Over 875kg of potatoes gleaned across two visits to Meade Farm.

Thank you to FoodCloud and the volunteers from Energia, Pinterest, AXA and graduates from APB for getting stuck in and helping gather potatoes remaining in the field.

It’s lovely to welcome teams back and see what a few hours of working together can achieve.

Ireland’s Edge, the ideas and discussion strand of Other Voices, is coming home to the Dingle for its 12th edition this 27–28 November 🌊

This year’s theme is Idir an Dá Linn / Mean Time.

Idir an Dá Linn, the Irish for ‘in the meantime’, evokes a space between worlds: between what is passing and what is yet to emerge.

We are living in mean times. Times of uncertainty, suspense and upheaval, but also of possibility, imagination and reinvention. Over two days, we’ll gather with artists, thinkers, makers, activists and organisers to explore our changing world, the freedom of the in-between, and the beauty and meaning to be found in the ordinary, extraordinary business of being human.

Swipe to see our first wave of esteemed speakers.

Tickets are on sale now, link in bio – Bígí Linn!

A big thank you to @reedglobal for their support, and to our venue partner @dingleskellighotel

Instead of retiring our older delivery vans, we repurpose and donate them to local community groups like FEED Cork, FoodShare Kerry, and FoodCloud!

These donated vans give incredible charities the wheels they need to collect surplus food directly from Tesco stores and distribute it to communities in need.

Plus, we wrap every van in the charity’s own custom branding completely free of charge.

That’s helping your local community.

That’s Every Little Helps 💙
