The thing about herbalists is they get and talk to plants. Understand their laws.

To plant seeds generously.
To nurture without forcing.
To trust timing with patience.

Ecosystems. Interdependence. Generosity.

And in the end, the only way to really enjoy the fruit is with friends 🌱 @eterna.earth floresta gathering.

Day 5: Kyle quit his job

Can you believe it?! Let the untethered life begin 🤟🏼

I’m gonna let him share his heart here, but first I’ll give a lil recap for context: Kyle was working in AI at one of the biggest tech companies in the world amidst the release of chatgpt & a massive AI boom.

Okay now here’s the man himself <3

Hi friends! So long story short on me quitting:

In some ways this was a pretty sweet job for me and I am so grateful for everything I learned & received, but overall I felt misaligned and knew I wanted more.

To give a little window into what it was like for me on the inside:

The race to beat out competitors and be the first mover on AI left me feeling morally conflicted and out of balance. I watched as my colleagues took on more stress, more work outside of working hours, and were valued based on their individual contributions rather than the role they played within the team. To me, it seemed like being “successful” would require a substantial sacrifice in my balance, my time/presence with my loved ones, and alignment with my values; which were non-negotiables for me. It was a tough position to walk away from, but this is all what ultimately led me to leave.

So over the past few months, I’ve gone back to the drawing board, erasing all the assumptions I had made in the past about what my career was going to look like, and am now rebuilding with fresh eyes, more excited about life than ever!! This has looked like a lot of thinking/writing about what my dream job/dream world looks like; what the most pressing issues we have in the world are and how I might be able to help; and what I could do that would feel so aligned with my mind, heart, and instincts.

And to address the biggest faq - yes, we did uproot our lives & move across the country for this job and then quit a matter of months later & no we don’t regret it!

Though we may not be able to see the full picture yet,
we’re always keeping our eyes peeled for the reasons why this move was the best thing that ever happened to us!

Olivia & Kyle, the two wonderful souls who invited me to take pictures for them on the day before they flew off to their new adventure. They became the first couple I’ve ever photographed 🌞🫶🏻
