Ok I’ll put SOME context in the caption(s) #fremantle @darawnaturecoffeelounge and most of Freo is a perfect example of why nothing needs to be pure white in an Aussie context. Soft pinks, yellows, blues and greens all help shift glare while reflecting heat. Bought a memory home with me. Purchased this piece by Artist Narpula Scobie Napurrla from @japingka_ in Fremantle. It’s a painting of her ancestral country in the Western Desert, dominated by open sandhill country. The old Port Authority building is one of the purist forms of modernism I’ve ever seen built in Australia. A stunner that needs some serious love - imagine it as a hotel (who said that). Exploratory research into sustainable fashion textile production with @design_steward @circularfashionfestival and i’m sure many other brilliant and clever brains. Stayed at @gardefremantle with hand painted textiles by @jordy_hewitt with @foolscapstudio The old South Freo power station. Endless possibilities. But for now, just a security risk.

“Caves of wonderment” is how Adèle Winteridge described the detail held inside each vessel. Photographed close, that’s exactly what these prints hold — cullet suspended in clear glass, fractured and luminous, caught mid-movement. The vessels were made by Hamish Donaldson for Open House Melbourne 2026, a collaboration between Pieces of Eight and Foolscap, the interior design practice behind our Russell Place gallery. Reclaimed offcuts from the glassblowing process, ordinarily swept away, blown into something closer to stained glass than salvage. No two vessels are alike. The prints let the work live on in another form. Limited edition of 20, supplied unframed. Tap to shop, and invite some colour into your world.

Tonight’s the night ✨ Melbourne Open House launches this evening, 5–8pm at the PO8 Gallery, 28 Russell Place. Come and join director @melanie_katsalidis , Adele Winteridge of @foolscapstudio and @hamish__donaldson as we celebrate their beautiful new collaboration in person. Hand-blown in Hamish’s Red Hill studio, each vase is a study in colour, light and form — a meeting of Adele Winteridge’s eye for shape and Hamish Donaldson’s mastery of glass. No two are quite the same, and every piece carries the warmth of the hands that made it. We’re delighted to share that the full collection is now available to purchase on our website — but there’s nothing like seeing them glow in person.  We spent the day with photographers Heather Lighton and Dan Aulsebrook, capturing a beautiful new collaboration between Adele Winteridge of Foolscap Studio and glass artist Hamish Donaldson. Inside the studio: Hamish Donaldson We visited Hamish Donaldson’s Red Hill glass studio to watch as he formed one of the vases for our Open House Melbourne 2026 exhibition. At the heart of the show sits a collection of eight limited-edition hand-blown vases, made by Hamish in collaboration with Adele Winteridge of @foolscapstudio — the interior architect behind our Russell Place gallery. Each vessel is clear glass embedded with reclaimed coloured offcuts, fragments that would otherwise be discarded. Suspended within the glass, these inclusions mean no two vases are alike. Responding to this year’s theme, Generous City, the gallery opens its doors for an installation and launch celebrating collaboration, craft, and materials reimagined. Join us Friday 24 July, 5–8pm for our opening event, and visit during gallery hours until 8 August (last day). The studio visit continues in our Journal.
