HELL GARBAGE DOES BANDCAMP FRIDAY! Popnihil’s 160th release in our final months is a momentary return from Central Florida harsh noise legend Hell Garbage. Call us sentimental, but Dylan Houser did the good work fostering our area’s noise scene AMD puncturing eardrums without fear of fanfare. So we pay tribute with this handsome digiipak CD with plenty of archival photos. Link in bio. Only 25 made and a bunch are gone.

DAY 09: There's Some Heavy Dark Blood On The Doctor's Hands (TW: descriptions of fictional torture) The Falcon Bar & Gallery is in a very hip area of Orlando I was previously unaware of-- I had only ever been to the various Disney parks and the seemingly endless sprawl of cheap apartments built to house their myriad employees. TART BOX kicked things off with a great set (their first w/ this project) of dark synthpop powered by an array of synths, samplers, and drum machines. HELL GARBAGE was next, generating harsh noise via pedals & a Crank Sturgeon cat food shaker can. We had previously been told there was only room for one of us on the bill, so we decided to team up for a collab set for one night only as DISTORTING A WOODPECKER x SCROTAL TEAR, or as I like to call it, SCROTAL WOODPECKER. Over sheets of harsh noise, I described a scene of awakening to find oneself strapped down, a burning pain quickly growing, the realization dawning that a crude surgery has been performed, an ant colony had been placed under the scrotal skin, the insects angrily trying to burrow out through the suture seams, chewing into the tunnel of the urethra, until the patient is literally pissing ants; next, a starved woodpecker is released into the room, its talons gripping the bare flesh of the thigh, it begins to poke and probe the skin of the sack, harvesting the ants, the skin becoming riddled with holes, porous, weeping, seeping as the ravenous bird plunges the needle of its beak in again and again to feast upon the bugs within... after an instrumental interlude, I reprised my piece "We Are Going To Castrate You," originally performed at the Silverfish Collective in Portland, ME. Afterwards, our set was compared to 90's noise acts such as Con-Dom. Finally, ZACHARY HICKERSON closed the evening with an extended drum solo. All in all, a strong finish to our five-city run of Florida shows. TONIGHT: Paper Moon Studios, Greenville, SC #scrotalwoodpecker #scrotaltear #distortingawoodpecker #tartbox #hellgarbage
