Big fan of a classic analog Photo Booth. Been having so much fun illustrating in them this year.

@autophoto would love to collab 🤪🙏

You can’t spend more than a day in Florence without noticing the waiting lines outside the Foto Automatica booths.

Right before we got on our train to Bologna, I was lucky enough to stumble upon the couple who keeps them running. Testing strip by strip, they fine-tune the chemistry behind those little black-and-white portraits, the ones that end up on fridges all over the world.

What did I do with my 24 hours in Florence? Went on a vintage film photobooth tour, of course.

I managed to find and try out 6 of the 7 booths scattered around the city, including a COLOR photobooth! Which, in all my years of loving photobooths, I’ve never come across before.

My plan was simple. Find the photobooths and see Florence along the way. It turned out to be a pretty perfect way to explore the city.

My love for photobooths goes way back to high school, when sneaking into Chuck E. Cheese just to use the photobooth was a favorite pastime.

Now I’m on a hunt for more European cities with vintage photobooths. Where should I visit next?

Thanks to @jenniferchiles.art for the cool photos of me at some of the booths.

Mini-mooning in Firenze ⚜️
Here’s some of my favourite things to do in Florence:
- affogatos from Vivoli 🍨☕️
- giunti odeon bookstore and cinema 📚
- climbing the top of the duomo ⛪️
- statue of David and the Accademia gallery 🗿
- uffizi galleries (stunning building and art) 🖼️
- ponte vecchio (historic bridge with jewelry stores)🌉
- visit a wine window for a fund drink 🍷
- fotoautomatica Photo Booth (so many in the area)🎞️
- walk around the piazzas and hear all the live music 🎶
- make sure to get some gelato, lots of lemon kiosks 🍋
- antique carousel at piazza Della repubblica 🎠
- try a sarti spritz 🍹
