Sonic Юность, “eric’s trip,” Live in Moscow (1989).

Recorded by Alexey Goltyakov

Rel: mon 25 Nov 19
RT: 66:00

Format: 2 x Vinyl, LP, Album, Lim Ed
Label: Feelee

In Apr 89, band played legendary, highly surreal mini-tour of Soviet Union @ tail end of Daydream Nation tour. Performing in Moscow & Leningrad (& making memorable stop in Kyiv), they were one of very🥇Western alternative rock bands to perform behind Iron Curtain.

Russian performances were famously chaotic & plagued by inadequate equipment, including makeshift drums & missing PA systems, sometimes even taking place under watchful👁️of KGB. Moscow performances ⏺️ed Orlyonok Concert Hall on April 12-13, 1989, were subsequently unearthed by promoter Igor Tonkikh. These historical recordings were officially released as a limited-edition 2-LP vinyl by Feelee Records & available to stream or purchase on platforms like Sonic Youth Bandcamp.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! From the bottom of my heart, this weekend exceeded all expectations. To have so many friends back in Ventura was all I wanted. I know it was my bday, but I wanted this weekend to be more about all the friendships made over the past 30+ years and the bonds we have coming up in our quiet little beach town. No matter how far away you move this place will always be home. I wish I had more time to hang out with everyone, but I was a little busy. All the smiles I saw from the stage, faces I haven’t seen in forever & all the hugs was exactly what I wanted & needed. Getting everyone together like that for a reason other than death or medical bills, was amazing. Thank you to my talented band mates who put in the work to learn the old songs & we’re down with my crazy idea, I think we all killed it! Hope you guys had as much fun as I did. Special shout out to my wife @shotsbaileycrerar for putting up with me the past couple of months getting ready for this, you worked your ass off at home and backstage I couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you to @monikerpromo for wanting to do a M23 show and being down w/ my crazy idea. I’m gonna do an instagram live and pull a winner for the drum set next weekend(on my actual bday)so if you want to get a few more entries in hit up @tootooswift If you have any pics or videos please post & tag me. People were asking me, what I’m gonna do when it’s all over, I guess it’s time to write some new tunes! Let’s do it again sometime, but maybe without me being in every band. Much love to you all. 📸 @_builttochill & @zinaparo805
