What if your family photos didn’t have to happen somewhere special?

What if they happened right here, in the place where your life is already unfolding?

Chickens wandering through the yard. Foam airplanes taking off across the grass. The hose turned on for absolutely no reason other than it’s fun. A mama, growing another baby, picking up a chicken like this is just an ordinary Tuesday. A little girl discovering that her overalls make a pretty excellent egg basket. 🥚

These are the things I want to remember.

Because you spend so much of your life at home. It’s where your children grow, where they make up games, where muddy feet come through the door, where you sit around the table, where ordinary days quietly become the memories you miss most.

So why not have your pictures there, too?

Backyard sessions are for the families who want their photographs to feel like them. And when the weather turns cold, I love bringing that same feeling indoors. In-home sessions are just another way of documenting your family exactly as they are, in the places that mean the most.

You don’t need a picture-perfect home or a perfectly behaved toddler.

You just need your people. 🤎

Imagine being given a second chance at forever.

This one hits home for me. I remember talking to Madi and Don on this day about this very thing. As someone whose first chapter of love didn’t unfold the way I had once imagined, I know that feeling all too well.

They told me that after the first time, they were afraid...it was just too hard and too painful, and they had both chosen to stop believing they’d ever want to do it again. Don told me he had decided, “Never again" and Madi said, “Me too…”

But then they found each other, and somehow all of that changed, because sometimes you meet someone who makes you realize you would do it all over again. And they already knew...that feeling of "I want to do this again- with you." 🥹💕

Not only are Carli + Anna adorable and flawless and gorgeous and perfect, but they also treated me to martinis and hibachi for their engagement session... so like, now we're ALL in love. Genuinely the most perfect day with the most perfect brides-to-be 🥹❤️

The glow was too good this session. From the sun, from mama, and from the love these two share.

And as beautiful as the golden light was, I think the real beauty in these images came from the way they loved each other. The way he looked at her as she carried their baby. The way she softened into his embrace. The quiet reminder that before they were parents, they were two people deeply in love.

That’s the part of maternity photos I cherish most. They aren’t just photos of a growing belly or a season that passes quickly. They are a reminder of the love that existed before little hands filled your home. They are something your children will one day look back on and see the love they were born into.

Some sessions feel different because the connection is so tangible. This was one of those sessions. 🤍

And to the mama who’s wondering if maternity photos are really worth it, or waiting until she feels more comfortable in her skin, more prepared, or more “ready”… I hope you know this season is already beautiful and worth remembering.
