Come with me to host “Unbossed & Unbowed”
The story of Shirley Chisholm the Black woman
who ran for president in the USA in 1982.

In 1968, Shirley Chisholm became the first Black woman elected to the US Congress. The daughter of a Guyanese father and Barbadian mother, she went on to make history again in 1972 as the first Black woman to seek a major US political party’s presidential nomination. Her message was simple: “Unbought and Unbossed.” She refused to wait for permission to lead. Over 50 years later, I had the pleasure of hosting the Q&A for @Unbossedandandundbowed
written and performed by Ingrid Griffith at the Bernie Grant Arts Centre for Black History Month. We explored Shirley’s legacy, the price of independence and why representation means little without real change. A powerful reminder that our history isn’t just something to celebrate. It’s something to learn from. Did you know Shirley’s story before today?

Thanks to fpcomms for having me as your opening day host

Shirley Chisholm was a woman who understood agency before it became a buzzword! This Black History Month, I’m celebrating a woman who didn’t wait for permission to lead. Tomorrow night I’ll be hosting the Q&A for Unbossed & Unbowed, a play about her incredible life, at the Bernie Grant Arts Centre in Tottenham. If you’re in London, come down and join us!

The award-winning play ‘Shirley Chisholm: Unbossed & Unbowed’ brings the remarkable story of Shirley Chisholm to the stage this Black History Month.

But who was the woman who, more than 50 years ago, became the first Black candidate for a major-party nomination for President of the United States, and the first woman to run for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination?

Ingrid Griffith’s play @unbossedunbowed explores Chisholm’s life, legacy and determination to challenge the political establishment, and asks us to consider how much has changed since 1972.

Lately, so many friends, founders, and community members have reached out to tell me how anxious they feel about the future, or how lost they feel when it comes to knowing their next business moves. I completely understand. But uncertainty does not have to dictate your reality.

If you want to enjoy the lifestyle, the freedom, and the success you see on your feed, you have to protect what you are building behind the scenes. Narrative control is everything.

On the 15th of September, I am hosting our Crisis Communications Workshop. We are diving deep into how to safeguard your reputation, handle the unexpected, and keep your business thriving no matter what.

To keep this session powerful and tailored, we have only 12 spaces available in total, and right now there are just 10 left.

Real growth means investing in yourself and taking action when it counts. Do not wait for a crisis to react.

Send me a DM right now or email pr@fpcomms.co.uk to secure one of the final 10 spots. I look forward to seeing you there!

Sometimes I have no words, because all I really want to say is I told you so. The number of times people want to jump on the 'look at me' or the grief or the 'i support you without knowing the facts' online train without considering the real implications. Yes. You lose the opportunities. Sometimes you just should shut your mouth.
