Thursday's SOTD & @elliestarscents Challenge
Had to revisit an older one from the collection for this V Challenge. Had @fragoslabs Pure Oil as the base then @veritasfragranceco Vir Eximius. This layer opened with a salty citrus scent from the oil and fragrance, it had me think of the coast and vacay for real. On dry down them herbal notes and apple took over and it just right for the that hot day.

🤍 SWISS ARABIAN | Patchouli 01 | my review

I wanted to hate this before it ever touched my skin.

Why? One word. PATCHOULI.

Besides blue tansy, it’s the one essential oil I truly despise. To me, it smells like Pine-Sol, and the cheap stuff can make you smell downright dirty. 🤢

There’s chemistry behind that. Patchouli contains pinenes, terpenes that can add a sharp, pine-like edge. It also contains patchoulol, which gives it that deep, earthy, woody character. Processing, aging, and blending can all change what your nose picks up.

Then there’s the hippie reputation. In the ’60s and ’70s, patchouli became a counterculture staple: inexpensive, powerful, and sometimes used to cover up other smells. Like BO.

So my nose gets two versions: Pine-Sol or Woodstock. Neither is invited to my house.

But then I got influenced. Swiss Arabian was the very first UAE fragrance house I ever bought from, so I ordered a decant from Fragrances on the go.

And well…

TOP
Lavender • Blackcurrant • Bergamot • Pink Pepper • Grapefruit • Cardamom • Watery Accord

HEART
Geranium • Lily of the Valley • Elemi • Orange Blossom • Pineapple • Mint

BASE
Patchouli • Ciste Absolute • Olibanum • Oakwood • Cashmere Wood • Vanilla • Tonka

This is a modern fougère, not your typical heavy, earthy patchouli. So I can take one foot off my soapbox, because this is the ONE patchouli I’ll willingly wear.

The other foot? Still firmly planted.

Here’s why:

WHY IT MOVES:

lavender + mint = aromatic freshness
Clean, herbal notes balance the richer base.

patchouli + cashmere wood = woody softness
Smooth woods soften patchouli’s earthy edge.

Thursday's SOTN
Had to go with definite presence with this one. Had that @fragoslabs Skin as the base layered up with @oidorem The Don. You get a sweety citrus on the opening, then the florals take over till the dry down hits with that nice musk and vanilla. Great scent and it definitely stands out.

Sotd is Armaf’s Club De Nuit Intense Overdose.

This stuff is gas in my opinion.

Shout out to @fragoslabs for putting me on to this one.

Top notes Bergamot, Tangerine, Pineapple, Blue Crystal.

Middle notes of Vanilla orchid, Oakmoss, Plum.

Base notes of Amber, Patchouli, Tonka bean, White powder.

This is the first Club de nuit I have put my nose on and I really like it I see a full bottle in my future.

If your looking for decants hit fragrancesonthego up he has a lot of great choices and his packaging is great and fast shipping. Tell him panda sent you.

Ever wondered what ACTUALLY goes into creating a perfume? 👀

It’s a lot more than choosing a few notes that smell good together. 😂

Last Saturday, I spent the day at a perfume workshop in Stockholm learning about top notes, heart notes, accords, proportions, weighing oils and blending — and seeing firsthand just how much precision goes into creating a fragrance.

And if there’s one thing this experience reminded me of, it’s that I still have SO much to learn. 🤍

The world of perfumery is incredibly complex, and the more I learn, the more I realise how much more there is to discover.

That’s exactly why I want to keep learning — because the better I understand how fragrances are actually constructed, the more knowledge and context I can bring to the reviews I share with YOU.

And of course… I had to create my own. 👀

Meet KAGIVA 01 — my very first fragrance blend. ✨

Is she perfect? Probably not. 😂
Did I learn a LOT making her? Absolutely.

And now I’m curious…

Would you like to know what I put inside KAGIVA 01 — and what she actually smells like? 👀

Because smelling perfume is one thing.
Understanding WHY it smells the way it does is another.

And I’m very much still learning. 🤍

Smell good and be kind. ✨

Thursday SOTN
This is definitely a grown folk combo. It smells exactly the way it is in the pic. Had that @fragoslabs Oil Tint (Modern Rose) Layered up with @acquadiparma Zafferano. If your into a darker floral scents this is for you. It doesnt start off floral, you get a smokey musky cirtus right off the rip which last about 30/45 mins then thats when the florals start to shine. You will definitely get popped with that rose from the oil and the fragrance and its not subtle. When it starts to dry down you get a spicy sweet floral going and again that rose does take center stage after its starts to dry down to when its fully settled. Once its completely settled your left with a sweet dark rose scent that can lean either way depending on your skin scent. I said before and I stand on it rose is a slept on note, can't be afraid to wear it when you do.
