and that’s a WRAP on the No Lace Fronts in Iowa midwestern summer book tour ~ !!

thank you to everyone who supported me this summer—whether that meant buying a book, coming out for a reading, agreeing to read with me, or offering words of encouragement to calm my reading nerves!!

so happy that my final stop was in Madison, WI — a few years ago I wrote the earliest version of my titular poem “No Lace Fronts in Iowa City” in Madison. such a lovely, full-circle moment to return for my final tour reading — and so many thanks to @roomofonesownbooks for curating such a thoughtful and beautiful event ❤️

very excited for the fall ~

Our perception and experience of safety greatly influences how and when we are capable of releasing. Creating an environment of relaxation before receiving treatment, establishing touch, inviting dialog, each signal different mechanisms that hold us captive to environmental and psychological guarding patterns. We developed these systems in times of need, but like most hoarding tendencies, we forget when it is appropriate to let go.

Things that currently interest me:

Anatomy, Communication, conflict instincts, mythology, symbolism, History and patterns, expansive science fiction, dominance and submission, social cues, body language, illusion, botany, textiles, kinesiology, biography and Portraiture. Art as therapy, Art as activism, Art as social dialog. Fermentation. Adaptive mechanisms. Repair. Presence. Energy signatures. Intimacy. Ecology. Intentional interdependence. Somatic therapy. Fascia. The color blue.

#Naji is a young boy born in Gaza. He has never known a normal life, no safe home, no healthy environment. His days are filled with fear and panic due to the intense shelling and the terrifying sound of tanks. 👶🏻😞
Naji is trying to be a normal child, to experience childhood in every sense of the word.
Naji and his younger siblings need your help to continue living a decent life. ❤️🙏🏻
