🦊 Red Fox on the Run - STAY CURIOUS - Designing Women at the 20th Annual Antiques at the Gardens Show

I managed to score two tix to yesterday’s “Designing Women” panel discussion with Jennifer Gracie, Frances Schultz, Elizabeth Locke and Ann Mashburn, moderated by Karen Carroll of Flower Magazine.

These women dished on bad bosses, the evolutions of their careers, challenges faced in business and more.

But what I was most interested in were their answers to Karen’s question: “What is your best piece of advice”:

✨ Ann Mashburn: “Don’t be afraid of failure. Stick to what you love. We (along with her husband, Sid Mashburn) are making clothes from our own POV and that is what resonates with customers.”

✨ Frances Schultz: “Design or dress for the person you want to be. And be inspired by YOURSELF.”

✨ Elizabeth Locke: “Practicality is highly overrated - you will never go wrong with what you love. Never be practical.”

✨Jennifer Gracie: “Use browned butter in your chocolate chip cookie recipe.” (aside from being the 5th generation of her family’s hand painted wallpaper business, Jennifer loves to bake.)

Thank you to all who made this year’s @antiquesgardensbham so special and bringing ALLLLL the talent to Birmingham.

🥂 A big celebration. And a little reflection.

This photo was taken on the opening night of our new gallery, @place_d_contemporary , in Painswick, by a very talented author & artist @francesschultz

And honestly, I’m really proud.

Proud of @mark_pepperall for having the vision, passion and making it happen.

Proud that I’ve been able to support him and be part of the journey.

And proud of me too.

I’m not always great with change. New places, new situations, uncertainty… they can really push me.

I think some of that goes back to leaving my home country on my own at 18 and having to start again.

But life keeps teaching me that the things that challenge us can also make us stronger.

I’m becoming more resilient, more self-aware. And my confidence is growing because I keep putting myself in situations that push me.

I now see change as an opportunity to grow.

And this is also the start of a new direction for my coaching business.

When the gallery isn’t open, I’ll be seeing my coaching clients here in Painswick.

And I’m really excited about that.

So this is your reminder:

Dream big.

Whatever it is you want to do, go for it. ⚡️

Support the people you love. Be kind to people you love and care for on their journey. We’re all doing the best we can.

Have a vision. Find the right people around you. Create the right environment.

Believe in yourself.

And then put the work in.

Because I really do believe that when you put your mind to something, anything is possible.

So tonight, I’m raising a glass to Mark, to me, to our new adventure, to my new direction, and to trusting the process.

You get back what you put out. ✨
