My Dinner with Andre only the guest of honor was one #FranLebowitz making her @carnegiehall debut in conversation with #WallyShawn. Naturally she had so many great barbs I wish I could recall but this line from her bio says it all: Lebowitz lives in New York City, as she does not believe that she would be allowed to live anywhere else. And in conversation: If you think a backyard is a good substitute for New York, then we don’t need you 🫢😆

I hate the word “photo dump” but we live in an era of maximalist scatology.

today is fran lebowitz’s 75th birthday (which purposely aligns with francon).

it’s interesting when your legacy gets tied to someone you don’t know. like if you google image search fran lebowitz, a photo of me and micaela is near the top which is wild.

every year i do the press rounds and the interviewers often ask “why fran?” and i’ve realized that deep down, she’s someone most of us probably wish we could be or at least attain parts of.

it’s inspiring to see a queer jewish woman speak her mind and not care what anyone else thinks. she lives for the pleasures of life, doesn’t seem to be scared of aging, and is fiercely independent. and made a career out of it.

in a world where we (women & queer people) are told we should be polite and reserved and not too eager and not too bossy and not too determined, having someone like her who doesn’t give a fuck is so important.

so happy birthday fran. thank you for not sending me a cease and desist yet.

and thank you everyone who came to francon this week. more posts to come on that.

Happy 75th birthday to Jewish NYC icon Fran Lebowitz.

Last week was the annual @franconnyc downtown where hundreds of Fran fans dressed up like the famous writer.🚬
