“Alone, I didn’t have the strength.
But I found people who believed in me.
And that enabled me to believe in myself.”

Frankie in Bristol told me her story

At 20, she overcame difficult situations, a dark period

But a community believed in her
when she couldn’t believe in herself

And photography gave her voice
when she had no words

Now she brings yoga to prisons
Because she knows what it means to be saved.

When I told her about Armonie Interiori
(the circles I started in Rome - music, sharing, meditation)

she said something that made me laugh:

“We’re building communities that national media doesn’t talk about.
But that’s ok.
There’s nothing good there anyway.”

And she was right

We don’t wait for someone to see us
to start creating spaces of transformation

We create them
Period

From the ground up
In homes
In yoga studios
In circles of 8 people

That’s where the real revolution happens.

E aveva ragione

Non aspettiamo che qualcuno ci veda
per iniziare a creare spazi di trasformazione

Li creiamo
Punto

Dal basso
Nelle case
Nelle sale yoga
Nei cerchi di 8 persone

Lì è dove succede la vera rivoluzione.

“Music is my way of having my own voice”
“It’s a way of expressing myself”
“Music gives me a sense of freedom”
“When I was in a dark space art was an extension of me”

I asked artists in Bristol: why do we create?

Their answers changed me.

Art is not a luxury.
It’s a language. A necessity.
The way we exist in the world.

A few weeks ago I traveled to Bristol for the Rachel K Collier community meetup.

40 artists from all over Europe.

I had one question for them: Why do we create?

What I found was deeper than I expected.

Stories of fear, support, finding voice when words fail, and why we keep going even when it's hard.

I've been working on this video for weeks. So happy that it will soon be online!!

Coming this Sunday, November 23rd, on my YouTube channel!

What would YOUR answer be? Why do you create?

A small snapshot of the portraits and photos taken during the festival i volunteered at recently . So many beautiful people, some pictured, many not pictured . 5 days without signal and almost always without shoes, so much connection, endless dancing, a continued expansion of the comfort zone, whatever that means anymore ~ i returned home with muddy and bruised feet and the fullest heart 🪵

For me, 2023 has been the year of soaking up every ‘small joy’. . that is my antidote ~ finding moments of laughter, a medicine .

i know this has been a hell of a tough year for many, there is a deep rooted ache across the world and change MUST come . i refuse to lose hope of the fundamental goodness of what we are capable of ~
and to my close people on screen and off, i could not love you more . .

🫀 Ever expansively, curiously, compassionately, deeply appreciatively, adventurously 🪩

This card was painted for me by one of my dearest loves @katodinaali for my birthday this year and i wanted to take a moment to celebrate my friends, how magnificent each of you are, how core to my life, love felt to the marrow ~ All my friends are artists in their own way, creative, kind, empathetic, funny, silly, intelligent, otherworldly, beautiful hearted souls and i don’t know where i’d be without them, but i’m grateful it’s here ~ ❤️‍🔥
