What a weekend for @frankietru and the @p2fabrication team!

Frankie took the win at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca behind the wheel of his 2017 Chevrolet Corvette, built by P2 Fabrication for the OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car series.

At the heart of the build is a SADEV SCL924 with our C7 Corvette Kit, bringing sequential racing technology to this high-performance Corvette.

What an awesome weekend!! Got to hang out at my home track with family and friends and got my first ever win in the GTV class and earned a spot in the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational at the SEMA show in Las Vegas!! Congrats to Efrain Diaz and Nick Smith for podium finishes, Tony Phillips and Jon Nidemayer rounding out the GTV top 5 Speedtech Performance cars. Huge thanks to all that make this happen!!

Shootout to Frankie.

What he has accomplished with a C7 in a sea of C8s has been pretty incredible to watch. As you guys know, I’m partial to the C7 Corvette. I’ve always thought it is an incredible platform, and watching Frankie take his C7 this far has made me appreciate it even more.

I’ll be honest, saying I want to copy something someone else has done is not something I say very often. But after seeing what Frankie has done, now I want a sequential and I want the same ABS system. 😂

This guy can obviously build a car, but what really stood out this weekend was just how fast and consistent his pace was. From the first run to the last. Frankie was the fastest car in autocross overall! And was right at the front of Speed Stop basically all day. A few of the more open Outlaw and AWD cars were eventually able to creep ahead, but Frankie was right there fighting with them all day in a car built within the regular class rules.

And then there’s the part of Frankie that you don’t see on the timing sheets.

One of the things I appreciate most about him is that he’s just genuinely a good dude. We’ve had a lot of long conversations over the phone, and I really enjoy that we can talk about all the nerdy, boring, technical stuff that most people probably have zero interest in. 😂

But even more than the technical conversations, I appreciate the friendship. Frankie has supported me and been there for me even when things have gotten difficult or complicated, and that means a lot to me. He’s one of those people I know I’ll continue to work with and have a lot of great conversations with for a long time.

I’m looking forward to seeing what Frankie accomplishes in the future, because I have a feeling this C7 is going to be one of the cars everyone has to deal with at SEMA Finals.

And honestly, I wouldn’t bet against him. #p2fabrication #katechengineering

It definitely took a lot of hard work to keep at the cars going and operating at a high level but everyone got the job done! Overall winner, 4 class winners, 7 podium spots! After being off pace day one of Nationals, Frankie put in the work (like always) and made the car handle better. He was able to do an alignment on the rear of the Corvette allowing it to use some of the @katech_inc power. I was able to set quick time of the CAM cars on day two and trim down the gap.

I am happy this year, Frankie’s second year of coming to Nationals he was able to bring home a trophy.

@p2fabrication built this wild C7 corvette. @frankietru has been doing great in it at the optima events this year and was in the trophies today in the big CAM-S class. Codriver “king” @alwaysracin set the fasted CAM car time in the county today.👍
