Cohosted my first women’s art camp, something I’ve been dreaming of for a few years. What an incredible few days that really should have been a full week. A week of doing girly things like dyeing everything pink, talking about beautiful scents, eating watermelon feta salad, feeding off each others manic creation hours, leaving pots of dye around ready for when inspiration hits, slumber parties watching the stars laughing at our toes, swimming in the river and of course watching the World Cup 😉

A few days that felt like a week where we just had each other and the river to inspire and take care of us. Big thanks to @natschweb for setting up our natural Dye class, @franngonzalez for teaching us to screen print, and @camiigonzalez for hauling her distiller to Northern California so we we could bask in the beautiful scent of Rosemary. These blissful few days were so wonderful and only happened because of you all. @_lenajoy_ @laurenalexkim @simoneaaa @emily_marina

Shout out to my dad, Camp Counselor Dwight for not caring about our projects strewn across the property. Also I have way more photos I wish I could fit in this post lol.

Texere is a home. But it’s more than that, too. Set in the small Mexican town of Santa María del Tule — known for a mythical Montezuma cypress believed to be one of the largest trees in the world — Texere is a textile sanctuary that, much like the cypress, is rooted in ancient memory. Here, fibers in endless expressions speak a language devoid of words — bridging understanding between artists from all over the world and the local community of artisans.
Within Texere lives an artist residency program, a shared work space open to the community, a specialty shop, and now, a growing textile garden that has given pulse to the home. Woven through it all is the impossible-to-ignore, quiet wisdom of Oaxaca. A land that intimately knows itself, that breathes art like air, and that holds deep reverence for the human hand. At Texere, you are invited to live it.

Have you ever crafted yourself into a pink mania? Have you ever loved a group of girls so fast n furiously it hurts? One of the sweetest cherries of being alive is co-creating in girlhood — using the cosmos, the logwood, the palo de brazil to color cosmic symbols for our altars. Distilling the rosemary to remember. Printing flowers onto flowers onto flowers. Dipping in rivers to wash it all away and remember we’re back to being 7. And all that’s true is the wild, silly, fantastical play dates we have with our gals, in the garden, making color everywhere. So grateful for the reminder. Art camp spirit forever🌸🩰🌀🪷🍉🌱🌬️🧚🏽🌠

I brought my Bolex down to Chile earlier this year to shoot another test roll. Added sound design and some music I was messing around with making last year to finally put a little something together. These were the longest, most peaceful days with 18 hours of sunlight or something like that. At least it felt that way. Shout out @franngonzalez for letting me really test the close focus of my 15mm and @camiigonzalez for walking down to pick some mint leaves for dinner at the perfect time.

We started a project called Current Color Series last year- a curated experience that brought together some of our most favorite things. Textiles, color, food and community. The entire evening is inspired around one color- we started with Red. We’ve been cooking up our second series to follow and decided to move down the rainbow landing us on the colors Yellow and Orange. Here is a photo dump of some of that cooking using Marigolds and Weld 🌼🌿
