GRADUATE STORIES: Frances @ AFTRS

We have some stories to share from our class of 2024 as they progress through their first year out of Bradfield. We could have told more than one AFTRS story, as a few in our 2024 cohort have gone on to study the Bachelor of Creative Arts (Screen Production). We thought we’d check in with Frances, whose time at Bradfield was more defined by Visual Arts rather than filmmaking.

Frances: “Bradfield definitely helped me be more creatively independent, teaching me how to develop my concepts into real pieces of art.
“I’m grateful that Bradfield gave me that bit of extra experience of knowing how to communicate with other creatives- AFTRS is so dependent on that, and Bradfield definitely meant I could go into AFTRS with more experience than I would have.
“The support that the staff at BSC provided me with definitely helped me in applying to AFTRS. If I were to give advice to students who actually want to go into the creative fields, use your resources and use your teachers. It was my art teacher at the time who encouraged me to pursue film making. When I started making my application I was able to get help from multiple staff members.
“Don’t underestimate the opportunities you have because your high school, your creative career doesn’t start when you leave Bradfield, you’re already in it.”

Bradfield Formal 🥰

It's been an incredible two years at Braddy. I've learnt and grown so much and there's definitely been some rough patches but we made it all in the end. What a fun way to end our schooling, its so different graduating and being flung out into the world.

I am so grateful for all the experiences and opportunities that has came my way in the past two years. Without Bradfield I don't think I'd be where I am now.

Please stay in touch 🙏
