All 32 doors have arrived at Quartair,
and Frans van Hoek @franslucent is the first artist to step in. He’s getting to know the material and starting to work.

NIEUWE WERELDKAART | 𝐊𝐢𝐝𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐩 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐭 is een conceptueel kunstwerk van kunstenaar Frans van Hoek, gemaakt met 23 leerlingen van groep 3/4 van basisschool De Kameleon uit Weert.

Op een lege wereldkaart, met alleen de contouren van de continenten, tekenden zij, onder begeleiding van de kunstenaar, vanuit hun eigen fantasie een heel nieuwe wereldorde.

Het resultaat: een kaart zonder harde lijnen, zonder conflict, zonder de ballast van volwassen logica. En juist daardoor een kaart die alles zegt over hoe willekeurig grenzen eigenlijk zijn.

📸 De Kids Map is het campagnebeeld van de tentoonstelling 𝐈 𝐃𝐢𝐝𝐧’𝐭 𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫, 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐌𝐞.

𝟯𝟮 𝗱𝗼𝗼𝗿𝘀. 𝟱 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝘀. 𝟱 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀.

For five weeks, the same 32 doors pass from hand to hand. Each week a new artist takes the material left behind by the one before, and turns it into something new.

Every Saturday and Sunday the work is on show, before it is taken apart and begins again.

Ossip Blits (he/him) (b. 1997 Amsterdam), Omer van Soldt (he/him) (b. 1996 Den Haag) & Ruben Dijkstal (he/him) (b. 2002 Amsterdam) together form the initiating collective behind cud.

From vastly different interests like clocks, communication and organisational structures these three artists come together through their shared enthusiasm for play and experimentation.

Within cud, they combine their hands-on approach, quick thinking, instinctive collaboration and creative reflections into a project with an outcome none of them can foresee. Rather than determining the result, they each implement, respond and play a role within a process that continuously changes through their interaction.

Through play, these 5 weeks form a connecting factor between their practices. Creating a system that connects, tests the limits and possibilities of communicating with others through material and structure and ticks in rhythm with an outcome we cannot predict.

Jette Kelholt (she/her) (b. 1999 Amsterdam) is a visual artist who uses found materials to form large- scale assemblages.

Curious about what lies underneath or in between the surface, she opens up objects or spaces.
The cavity that arises contains the imagined pasts and futures.
In some ways, the cavity is the story, as it holds all possible stories.

GROUND ZERO: The events that shook the world on September 11th 2001 have scarred and shaped the 21st century. Terrorists ushered in the new era, imprinting it with their influence over mass psyche. Its gravity finds hold in the pyrotechnic martyrdom. Neither water nor dry chemical powder agents succeeded in quenching the fires of this particular collision. The potential to influence politics and culture on a global scale, a potential once wielded by authors, philosophers and artists, was escorted out the back door by terrorists. The metaphysical wound is felt in airport security and in the reformation of data protection rights under the guise of anti-terrosim. The cause of our suffering, broadly speaking, is not so much about a lack of oil but of the desire for oil itself. This desire is often justified as necessity called progress a word which does not commit to a betterment of the majority of the human population and thereby, condones no organic consensus. Extrapolating this predicament sets the stage for a future of anti-human policies. A global peasant class of user-subscribers. Ever growing sacrifice zones produced by alchemical extraction.
