On Tuesday, October 27, three of New York City’s most legendary bars will come together for an evening of history, storytelling and libations (natch).

At “The History of Bars in New York,” panelists Dan Salzstein, author and deputy editor at the New York Times, @gage.and.tollner co-founder St. John Frizell, and master mixologists Jack McGarry of @thedeadrabbitny and Barry Smyth of @frauncestavern, will discuss the evolution of bar spaces in New York City — from the taverns of the Revolutionary War to today’s craft cocktail revival.

The speakers will go deep into the topic at Fraunces Tavern – an apt location for a history panel, considering Fraunces was a bar before America was a country.

If that’s not draw enough, two special cocktails are being created for the evening and are included with your admission, along with light bites. Tickets are $30, with all proceeds going to @cityharvestnyc. Grab yours at the link in our bio 🔗

I had the best time with these ladies!

Ending up being the perfect weather for a walk across the bridge and several of us even scored some original artwork. Making the artists day, made our day.

If it’s good enough for George Washington, it’s good enough for us!

She still stands proudly, welcoming the tired & hungry.

Trinity church was sadly closed for an event but we still walked the grounds and saw Alexander, Eliza, Angelica and other’s final resting places.

We walked on to St Paul’s Chapel and the 9/11 Memorial but I didn’t take any pictures. A quick regrouping and we decided to train back to Chelsea Market to see what we missed Monday night!

The sign said it was the best so we had to try it. Costco $1.50 deal beats it imo 😆 but the mango sticky rice was enough for a second try! A slice of pizza and a custard tart rounded out my final dinner of the trip.

There’s a chill in the air but the sun’s still shining, the leaves are changing but the trees aren’t bare. We’re smack in the middle of (arguably) the best season in New York City, and it’s time we start drinking appropriately. Therefore, we proudly present to you: The Autumn Drinks Matrix!

At first glance, you may notice the omission of the darling of fall drinks, the Pumpkin Spice Latte. It’s not for lack of availability – almost every coffee shop and cafe in the nabe is serving up their version of the famous beverage, so we purposefully set our sights on more unique libations.

We split the downtown drinking scene into four quadrants: if we’re coming across your feed on a chilly day, consider exploring the top of the matrix for warming cocktails, spiced lattes and seasonal tea blends. If you’re an iced-coffee-year-round-no-matter-what kind of person, or you just fancy something strong in a chilled glass, head south down the axis. Move from left to right, and you’ll start at creative mocktails and coffees before making your way to high ABV offerings like Pumpkin IPAs and killer martinis on the right.

Wherever you end up, have fun, enjoy the weather and tip your server! Happy Autumn 🍁☕️🥂

This week, Dad & Jon revisited Manhattan’s southern tip for lunch at historic Fraunces Tavern—the city’s oldest surviving building and a pivotal site of the American Revolution. After visiting the tavern’s museum, we boarded a ferry at the Battery Maritime Building for our first trip to Governors Island, where we explored the terminal area and historic Castle Williams. #FrauncesTavern #ManhattanHistory #GovernorsIsland

Can you believe it’s been twenty-four years since the most wonderful rainy day of my life! I remember walking down the aisle toward you in five-inch heels under my gown, holding my bouquet, wanting to get to you but not falling on my face or tripping on the marble.

“That excitement is still there twenty-four years later. Not the fear of tripping, because I know you’ll always be there to catch me, but the excitement of getting to spend every day with you!”

We still share so much together, from writing books to recording our podcast. We keep our love alive in so many ways.

I always go to New York for work but last weekend I went for fun! Swipe to see my itinerary.

Hotel view from @moxydowntownnyc was on point!

I finished Best Offer Wins on Saturday and it is such an unhinged masterpiece! The main character is desperate to buy her dream home in Bethesda and will go to extremes to get it. She’s crazy but also kinda relatable. Five star read!

St. Paul’s chapel and graveyard. Built in 1766, it’s the oldest surviving church in Manhattan.

@mcnallyjackson in the South Street Seaport. Two floors of books in a historic warehouse. Really good selection and a gorgeous space.

I’ve been wanting to go to @bibliothequenyc for years. Stunning bookstore and wine bar! It lives up to the hype.

@frauncestavern is the oldest building in Manhattan. It was originally built as a private residence in 1719 and went on to become a tavern that played many roles during the Revolutionary era. George Washington delivered the farewell address to his officers here. The food is good too!

Little bro and I reliving our first trip here 20 years ago.

Alexander and Eliza Hamilton, buried in the graveyard at Trinity Church. Their son, who also died in a duel involving the same set of dueling pistols that killed Alexander, is buried in an unmarked grave nearby.

The original Shake Shack. It’s still worth the wait. Get the cheese fries.

Merchant’s House. It’s the only house in Manhattan from the 1800s to keep its original exterior, as well as furnishings inside. It has a hidden room that was used to transport people along the Underground Railroad and is supposedly quite haunted.

Historic lightship Ambrose. Lightships were used to warn mariners of dangers in areas where it wasn’t feasible to build a lighthouse. This one was built in 1908 and helped to guide ships from the Atlantic into New York Bay.
