It’s hard to believe that tomorrow is already the last day “Pull the Rug” will be on view. I’d like to take this opportunity to invite you all to our closing event:

Tomorrow, Saturday, October 10th, from 4 to 6 pm at Galerie Judin, Potsdamer Str. 83, 10785 Berlin.
At this point, I’d like to thank everyone who made this sculpture and experience, so important to me, possible. My thanks go to @paymatthiskarstens, @juergjudin, @galeriejudin and the entire wonderful gallery team. It was a pleasure. I also want to thank my team in the studio. In particular @fred_horton was involved in the planning and Kris Douglas was a part of “Pull the Rug” from start to finish. Thank you @bernd_euler_gmbh and your fantastic team for supporting me in realizing even the craziest projects for almost two decades now.
See you all tomorrow.

If you ask us, a great artwork is also defined by the freedom it gives viewers to find their own meaning – while offering a wide range of possible approaches, from immediate sensory experiences to more complex intellectual reflections.

“Pull the Rug” by @michaelsailstorfer is precisely that: a sculpture made of time, smell, dust, and tremors. A work that reaches us on every sensory level. But it is equally poetic: an hourglass marking our own transience, perhaps even a variation on the classical “memento mori”. At the same time, it can be read as a reflection on complex global shifts, on the much-discussed „Zeitenwende“. What once appeared permanent and unshakable has long since revealed itself to be fragile and subject to change. And all of this is driven by mechanisms that, like the machinery within Michael’s sculpture, remain invisible and can only be sensed or imagined …

Collecting water
Designed as a porous landscape, the park mediates between the atmosphere and the ground.
Rainwater is collected, guided, and distributed through a network of retention basins and water channels, transforming water management into ecological and spatial experience.

At the Brno branch of @knihkupectvi.artmap at @galerie_tic you can find 𝕁𝕦𝕟𝕘𝕝𝕖 👹 a self-published zine by @studio_saudari that explores socio-political themes such as the pitfalls of neoliberalism, the circus state, environmental collapse, heterotopias, and cycles of growth and decay. Referencing Upton Sinclair’s 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙅𝙪𝙣𝙜𝙡𝙚 (1905), the issue brings together different interpretations of the “jungle” as a site of critique, tension, and potential transformation.
