Update, baby! šŸ’™

Bittersweet one.

Let’s start with the good news: Sour Party is officially out for everyone to watch on Prime Video, Apple TV, and DirecTV! I feel incredibly lucky to have been a part of this wild little film alongside a bucketload of talented people, and the absolute masters who brought it all to life @sourpartymovie @amandadrexton @lilbiggulp @madrexton

A few fun little Easter eggs… my mama has a cameo in it. Oh wait… so does Elvis. šŸ˜‰

And last—but definitely not least—my childhood home makes a cameo too.

Our family home was lost in the Palisades fires, so seeing it forever captured in this badass film means more than I can put into words. There’s something really beautiful about knowing a little piece of it gets to live on forever. That’s a win we’ll always hold onto.

Go check out this insanely fun, wild ride of a movie.

Sour Party is streaming now. šŸ’™šŸŽ¬

An afternoon at Meier St/ 🌷 Last month, we celebrated the launch of our spring issue with an intimate gathering at @meierst_, co-hosted by architect (and Issue 05 feature subject) Takashi Yanai (@t_yanai), Partner and Residential Studio Director at @eyrcarchitects.

Guests ranged in age from two to ninety, reflecting a rich mix of creative disciplines and lending the afternoon a warm, convivial atmosphere. Throughout the space, Exhibition House—a site-specific installation co-presented by Meier St/ and @frankfurtordorica, featuring artwork by @homeboysdontcry, @jono.m.coles, and @kinnanesmith—created a resonant backdrop, engaging the legacy of Gregory Ain’s iconic Mar Vista tract.

Beneath the dappled shade of an ancient Chinese elm in the Garrett Eckbo-designed backyard, contributors @kathleenalcott, @b___rye, and @_____kikiiiii read from their work to a rapt audience. Our friends at @sunnysbookshop were on site with fresh copies of the new issue šŸ“š and drinks flowed, thanks to @sawtellesake. šŸ¶

Gathering with our community to celebrate our contributors’ work is one of the most meaningful parts of what we do. In an era that so often pulls us toward speed and distraction, these moments of connection feel all the more essential.

We hope to see you at a future gathering! And if you’re not yet a subscriber, we hope you’ll consider joining us. Link in bio ✨

Fun Facts , Back in the early 1900s, Coke and Pepsi were sold as medicine in pharmacies.

People drank them for headaches, low energy, and ā€œnervous exhaustion.ā€
You’d order one the same way you’d ask a pharmacist for a remedy.

So yeah…
what started as cure-alls turned into the biggest rivalry in drink history. Oh and #fuckice

My Mom’s Birthday

My mom’s birthday is today, but yesterday she threw a little birthday party — part farewell to our old home and part hello to our new one.

Ten months ago, when the fire happened and so many people lost their homes, ours included, I came across a talented sketch artist who was drawing people’s lost houses. I reposted about it, and my friend Evelyn — who’s such a brilliant artist herself — messaged me saying she’d love to paint ours. She captured our home to the T.

I gave the painting to my mom yesterday for her birthday, and it was emotional and bittersweet.

The party itself felt like a reunion — people who hadn’t seen each other in years were reconnecting, laughing, and just being together. My mom had old footage playing in the background from my baby brother’s birthday in the 90s at our first home in the Palisades. Watching it was surreal — so many faces I love, some who have since passed.

What really struck me was the connection between that old tape and last night’s party. In the 90s footage, there wasn’t a single phone in sight — just people living in the moment. And while phones were definitely out last night, people were still really there — laughing, talking, connecting. It felt genuine. It felt human.

It reminded me how much we need that — real connection. Not the kind we scroll through, but the kind we feel.

So this is a reminder to myself, too.
Thank you, Mama, for bringing everyone together to celebrate you. You have a gift for connecting people.
Happy Birthday — I love you. ā¤ļø
