HOMECOMING – LAST BOOK TALK NEXT WEEK IN BALTIMORE! And only a month away from the release of ZINE 8: Sodomy in Maryland: The First 400 Years! It’s been an amazing month criss-crossing Maryland (and briefly, Delaware and DC), now it’s time to bring things back to Baltimore! The final event of the tour will be on THURSDAY, September 3, at 6PM on the back patio of @theivybookshop! I’ll be chatting with Josh from @submersivellc about the book, the zines, the history behind it all, and the tour. Come through! AND ON THURS, SEPT 24, I’ll be back at @theclubcarbaltimore for the release of gay little history zine no. 8, all about the history of sodomy laws in Maryland, mixing three of my favorite things (history, sodomy, Maryland) and one of my least favorites (the law). For centuries (387 years, to be exact), Maryland empowered police and courts to crack down on queer s*x and insert themselves into the most intimate parts of our lives. For just as long, queers have been finding new places and ways to meet one another and commit all sorts of filthy, disgusting, wonderful acts together, stretching out across the state’s woods, parks, rest stops, and a certain men’s room on the top floor of the Annapolis Mall. Proceeds from the zines will benefit @transrightsmd, and you’re in for a treat, because afterwards there’ll be a special, sodomitical performance by one of my favorite drag kings: @misterxsister! So come on by and get the zine that dares not speak its name! Learn about the first 400 years of Maryland sodomy, and let’s raise a glASS to 400 more! #queerhistory #marylandhistory #lgbtqhistory #lgbtqbaltimore #bmorequeer

The next session of Frederick Chats features a special guest from Baltimore: Ben Egerman — a librarian, researcher, historian, and author of “A Gay Little History of Maryland (Volume One).” 🏳️‍🌈 From trans horse thieves in 19th century Baltimore to Southern Maryland’s 1960s secret gay getaway, these lovingly researched stories span 150 years and take place all across the state. The first book ever published on Maryland’s LGBTQ+ history, “A Gay Little History of Maryland” proves that our state’s story is far less straight and narrow than you think! 😉 Join us as Ben reads from this fabulous new book and joins us for a casual chat. As always, we’ll provide the drinks and snacks — you bring the big ideas to share. THURSDAY, AUGUST 13 5:00 - 7:00 PM WAVELENGTH WEAR 122 N EAST ST DOWNTOWN FREDERICK
