Art meets restlessness…

Jeg står et sted imellem. 🤍🖤

Imellem at give slip

Sorg.
Rastløshed.
Sårbarhed.
Og en stille vrede over,
at livet ikke stopper op.

Så jeg bevæger mig.
Jeg danser det, jeg ikke kan sige.

En krop mellem kaos og kontrol.
Mellem “jeg mærker alt”
og “jeg er ligeglad”.

Jeg er mor.
Jeg er hustru.
Jeg er mig.

Og lige nu…
er det nok bare at være her.
At trække vejret.
At komme igennem dagen.

Men…

I find myself in between 🤍🖤

Between letting go
and holding on.

Between the everyday life calling
and the grief that still whispers your name.

It still feels so strange
that I can’t just call you, Dad, and hear your voice,
or ask if we should go for a bike ride…

The world moves on, they say.
But what about me?

Because I’m still here —
filled with everything that has no language.

Grief.
Restlessness.
Vulnerability.
And a quiet anger
that life doesn’t just stop.

So I move.
I dance what I cannot say.

A body between chaos and control.
Between “I feel everything”
and “I don’t care”.

I am a mother.
I am a wife.
I am me.

And right now…
it’s enough just to be here.
To breathe.
To get through the day.

But…
how do you go back to everyday life?
To work?
To everything “normal” when your world has stopped?

Have you been through this?
How did you find your way back — or did you at all?

So today I’m sharing a choreography I created a while back with a track by @badbunnyyofficial and @rosalia.vt that includes strong Latin influences: mucha pasión coraje y actitud. I am becoming better at incorporating who I am in my art! The truth is I couldn’t have been more proud to represent my ancestors and my roots. And let’s face it, just still buzzing over Bad Bunny’s Latin representation at the Super Bowl Halftime show🤷🏽‍♀️🙌🏽❤️✊🏾

This is me. This is my culture. And I carry it with pride. ✊🏾. #latina #raices #orgullosa #pasión #choreography

How do you represent yourself?

2016… hvad i alverden lavede jeg egentlig? 🫠

Må hun hvile i fred ❤️

2016… you were wild.🔥

One progression we’ve been focusing on is inversions or handtands. 🤸🏻‍♂️

How to safely and confidently put weight on the hands and align our structures to feel secure upside down and also to learn how to adapt fluidly while in this position - this opens us up into other inverted acrobatics :) and transitions.

-

Functional Flow is simply a practice of play. And through play we explore and condition our bodies to move in dynamic ways in space, with ourselves and with each other.

The outcome is a practice that works on our coordination, mobility, strength, explosiveness and stability, reaction and sensitivity and much more.

It is just about learning to move in our own bodies. With the romantic goal of moving freely with care to the personal physiological system. 🥷🏼🥰.

📍 We practice every Saturday in Copenhagen Inner City from 13-14:30.

Thanks everyone for another great class! And welcome to @freedahau 😊 . I think it fair to say we worked it out this weekend!

See Yall next Saturday for more training!

We have been focusing a lot of conditioning for ground work, handstands and of course lots of contact play (improv / grappling). 🥰✌🏼

ARCHIVES 2023
"Afropolis, Out of this World" @qudusonikeku @afropolis_
Collaboration between Qudus Onikeku, ENSATT and the 20th Biennale de la Danse, Lyon, september 2023, Usines Fagor Brandt

Final step: construction, rehearsals and Performances. Biennale de la Danse, Lyon.

« Think Out Of this World». The purpose was to create an immersive performance where set design, dancing bodies and musicians would allow to create a space of its own social, cultural and spiritual context.
Qudus introduced us to 16 divinities of the Yoruba spirituality, guided by the Ifa Priest the Babalawo, which are called the « Orishas ». They were the beginning and the structure of the whole creative process.
From the 16 Orishas, represented by the 16 Totems, were born 8 spaces composing the whole set design of the Fagor factory's hall : Fire, Wind, Earth, Water, Coloured sanctuary, White sanctuary, the Market place and the street as a Playground. The whole set design was thought from the Nigerian culture we've been immersed in, our multicultural sharing inside this experience and our own interpretation of them. The 16 totems punctuating this huge space.

I can't tag everyone but a very special gratitude to all the dancers, musicians and wonderful artists with whom we shared these magical moments ❤️

Set design and construction : @adelehamelin @grange_grenier and myself. With the precious and wonderful help of the whole technical team of La Biennale de la Danse
Costume design and realisation: @costumance and @ines_forgues
Light design and control : @michelabdallah
