FIDDLER ON THE ROOF
. ˚ ₊ ‧ 🎻 ‧ ₊ ˚ .
⭐️ show #63 of 2026 — @fiddlerontherooftour
📍 theatre royal, sydney
🎫 24/09/26 evening (round #1)
fiddler on the roof has officially closed in sydney so now i can take a moment to talk about how special this show is & how i am so glad it has become one of my favourite productions ever. i was completely unfamiliar with this show at first & i got the chance to see it time & time again, but this time in the audience was the most special! to be front row, SO immersed in this story, is something i will never forget. everyone is giving a top tier heartfelt performance that will forever be engraved in my brain, especially seeing damien go on as the tevye cover! his tevye is UNBELIEVABLE & i am so glad i got to witness it up close. the ensemble in this show are just beyond talented & of course the incredible @badlermusic is tremendous as the fiddler. i will miss this show with every inch of myself truly & i can’t wait for the rest of australia who get to witness this incredibly special production! big big thanks to @_butterflysoup for joinging me & of COURSE the biggest chookas to @ellenebbs_ i am so so proud of you & the world deserves to see you shining on that stage! ♡₊˚.

Jude Perl is helping us spread the word about YidLid…. Kadimah’s international Yiddish songwriting and translation competition - with a song and a bisl of Yiddish.

Whether you’re a songwriter, translator or someone who loves Yiddish music, help us celebrate new creativity: watch the reel, share it with a friend, and tell the musicians in your life about YidLid. Anyone can have a go at entering!

My 7th journey to Anatevka.

Highlights:

Seeing Sigrid and John Waters on stage together.
Troy Sussman’s incredible Tevye.
Alexis Fishman’s Golde (who we can all learn from (“I’m very frightened of you”😆).
I cannot pick a favourite sister (Caity Plummer - reminded me of Nicole Kidman on stage) Freya Boltman (mesmerising - and that voice! 🤯) and what a revelation Ellen Ebbs - a star is born.
Felix Star (“Look, Rabbi, my new sewing machine” 😂 one of my favourite lines). Jacob Steen a compelling Fyedka. Maxwell Simon - every one of Perchik’s lines resonated and felt as relevant today as 60 years ago. (“It is no reason to marry.”)
Ben Adler simply a sublime Fiddler.

Everyone else I didn’t mention - your energy and passion shone through every time you stepped on the stage.

I will miss you all. Thank you.

Tomorrow will be the final day of @fiddlerontherooftour in Sydney.. and you bet I’ll be there at both shows from my favourite seat in the house. I don’t really have the words right now to explain how much I have loved this musical (but after seeing it 26 times after tomorrow you get the picture)… and honestly I think it’ll take me some time to really digest my feelings on it all. Every single person on this stage has shown an unbelievable level of talent and grace. Thank you thank you thank you, to each and every one of you - for such beautiful storytelling each and every night.
I will never forget the impact this show has had on me, and that you have all had on me.

Birthday weekend turned into a Golde debut. Thank you @alexis_fishman for being the most wonderful leading lady and showering me with love before the show. And a cheeky birthday enamel pin from @lelle_irwin . I love my job and I love this cast 🧡🎻

Of course I had to see a show while I was away and what a show it was.

Fiddler on the Roof is about how one find’s the balance in facing the changing of times. It talks about faith, tradition, personal beliefs, family, and how each of these things affect how we make decisions and how we live our lives. It is about choosing how you wish to tell your story. It is a joyous and heartfelt storytelling about how a man navigates all these choices, despite the confusion and difficulty, and how he comes out of it as a changed man who still chooses love. 🎻
