๐ŸŒŸ A Star is Born ๐ŸŒŸ Introducing Bun Ra, Rose Freymuth-Frazierโ€™s Persian cat and frequent muse, bringing both charm and mystery to her evocative paintings. American painter Rose Freymuth-Frazier began her creative journey in theater before fully embracing visual arts. Trained at esteemed institutions, she refined her skills through mentorships with respected artists in New York City and Norway, developing her unique approach to figurative realism. Specializing in oil painting, Rose combines traditional realism with a contemporary edge. Drawing on Baroque techniques, particularly chiaroscuro inspired by Caravaggio and Rembrandt, she crafts rich, three-dimensional figures. By blending historical and lowbrow aesthetics, her work bridges the old with the new. Roseโ€™s paintings explore themes of femininity, sexuality, and identity, challenging societal norms. Through symbolic animal imagery, especially her cat Bun Ra, she conveys deeper meanings tied to independence, femininity, and societal roles, inviting viewers to reflect on the forces shaping identity. Since the beginning of September, we have been thrilled to welcome our inaugural artist-in-residence, Rose Freymuth-Frazier. Her current series, a vibrant exploration of her roots in the Sierra Nevada foothills of Northern California, intertwines Western Americana with biblical imagery and Greek mythology. In her larger-than-life figurative oil paintings, she presents daring and unapologetic female muses, challenging traditional narratives and inviting viewers into a world rich with dynamic potential. Stay tuned for more from Rose Freymuth-Frazier and our other artists-in-residence. ______ ๐Ÿ“ธ : Rose Freymuth-Frazier, โ€œVenus Highway,โ€ Oil on canvas, 58 x 94 inches.
