FRIENDLY FAUX RESURRECTS AT MIDWEST PSYCH FEST AFTER SEVEN YEARS OF SILENCE After seven years of ayahuasca sessions Friendly Faux is back. Their self-titled debut album was a lo-fi masterpiece, soon followed by Abandon Ship in 2015, then after two years of pleasing fans the band disappeared not to be heard from again until Speak of the Devil was released as a single in 2018. Was this a last spark or a hint of another full album yet to come? This is no reunion, this is a resting erec…I mean resurrection. This time, there’s something different in the air. It’s not just legal weed and everything bagels. Geoff Spall, the band’s frontman has been biding his time along with Charis Yost, the band’s Bass player and bagel maker, and Brandyn Morit, Drummer and the shirtmaker for Kanye West. Lurking in the shadows is a new addition to the band—a figure known as Bunjumun, The Behringer of Death.

From 2013, folks had only 24 hours notice that Dax was playing in Columbus, due to his original show on the same date getting cancelled and I’d already had a show booked at Bourbon Street but the 2 touring bands cancelled on me, so Dax came here and Beggars & Friendly Faux didn’t cancel on me, so that was great also!

Columbus rock favorite Friendly Faux are back at Gnarbeque this year and are ready to bring their grungey psychedelic rock out of the basement and into the backyard for a very special set. The band's single "Speak of the Devil" was featured as a @cd1025fm "local gem" for much of 2018. Prior to that, the band enjoyed regional airplay of two previous radio singles "Three Lefts" (2014) and "Carpe Dumb" (2015). Faux has opened for the likes of Fuel, Shakey Graves, The Hounds Below, Drowners, Dax Riggs, Airborne Toxic Event, and many more. Faux have writing and recording new material to follow-up 2015's full length "Abandon Ship." With limited shows being played in 2019, Friendly Faux plan to finish and release a new record later this year. Don't miss this unmistakable and revered local rock trio!

I miss my short hair. I won't cut it again until I lose a specific amount of weight. I AM growing out my bangs so between my extra flub and weird bang length.. I may as well be 13 again.
Bright side? I didn't get to enjoy a cocktail and go see friends rock shows when I was 13.
