Brazil is no one’s backyard. Not Trump’s. Not the U.S. or Israel’s. Over the past several months, Trump, the right, and corporations based in the U.S. and around the world have been exerting pressure on Brazil to promote the election of far-right candidate Flavio Bolsonaro over the Workers Party incumbent President Lula. Bolsonaro is the son of former president Jair Bolsonaro and has received support from the global far right who intend to roll back the social programs and environmental protections that Lula’s administration has delivered. Bolsonaro threatens an end to Brazilian sovereignty and will hand Brazil over to the U.S. and foreign corporate interests. All eyes on Brazil and their upcoming election on October 25! The U.S. must stay out of Brazil’s democratic processes.

starting my longggg debrief on my time at the escola nacional florestan fernandes (ENFF) in brasilllll!! this school was started my the landless workers movement (MST) (@movimentosemterra) and has a long history of political formation and activism. i’m gonna *try* to share all the things i learned here and share how we can learn from the mst’s militancy and organicity in the u.s. labor movement 🫡 feel free to ask any specific questions you wanna know!

spent 3 weeks at the florestan fernandes national school in guararema, brasil!!! we learned about the landless workers movement and their fight for land, agrarian reform and socialism 🫶🏼 we visited their encampments and settlements, and built relationships with comrades from europe and brazil ❤️❤️❤️ gonna be super annoying about it until further notice so just let me be 🫡 LOVE YOU MST, LOVE YOU BRASILLLL, LA LUCHA SIGUE ☀️🫡❤️🫶🏼

The Friends of the MST of U.S. and Puerto Rico helped organize a Youth delegation that just returned from the ENFF- the Florestan Fernandes National School of the MST in Brazil. There were 13 different organizations from the U.S. and Puerto Rico represented in the Internationalist Youth Brigade alongside other representatives from Europe (Belgium, France, Catalunya, Aragon, and Basque country) who were joined by the Popular Youth Uprising from Brazil. Over the course of 3 weeks, the brigade learned about MST’s organizational structure, visited encampments and settlements throughout Brazil. The U.S. and Puerto Rico representatives from the brigade will be sharing their experiences and learnings on @friendsofthemst_us so make sure to follow along! We can’t wait to share more with all of you. ***** Os Amigos do MST dos EUA e Porto Rico ajudaram a organizar uma delegação de jovens que acaba de voltar da ENFF - a Escola Nacional Florestan Fernandes do MST no Brasil. Foram 13 organizações diferentes dos EUA e Porto Rico representadas na Brigada da Juventude Internacionalista, juntamente com outros representantes da Europa (Bélgica, França, Catalunha, Aragão e País Basco) que se juntaram a membros do Levante Popular da Juventude no Brasil. Ao longo de 3 semanas, a brigada aprendeu sobre a estrutura organizacional do MST, visitou acampamentos e assentamentos em todo o Brasil. Os representantes dos EUA e de Porto Rico que participaram na brigada compartilharão suas experiências e aprendizados no @friendsofthemst_us, então não deixe de acompanhar!
