No Password Required®️, Residential Day One

Edition Two is officially underway.

We were thrilled to welcome our new cohort for the opening day of No Password Required®️, beginning with a deep dive into one of the most vital parts of a film’s journey: how it finds, builds, and speaks to its audience.

Across the day, participants explored the strategy behind marketing a film, shaping an audience plan, identifying the right festival pathway, and understanding how awards campaigns can help a project reach the people and platforms it deserves.

A huge thank you to our brilliant day one speakers, Rachel Dargavel, Producer at Element Pictures, Kristy Matheson, Artistic Director of BFI Festivals, Tolley Shields, Expert Film Awards Strategist, and Rajiv Nathwani, VP of Marketing for Netflix UK and Ireland.

Their insight, generosity, and industry expertise set the tone for an inspiring start to the program.

A special thanks to @thefarmpost.tv for welcoming us so warmly into your beautiful space.

No Password Required ®️ is supported by the BFI national lottery Creative Challenge Fund, awarding National Lottery good cause funding.

⭐️ Last week we were delighted to welcome 12 participants onto Back in the Frame - a 6-month programme aimed at supporting experienced filmmakers returning to the industry, produced in collaboration with Sony Pictures Entertainment.

⭐️We kicked off the first Lab at @sonypicturesuk before Day 2 took us to the media law firm Lee & Thompson where the cohort engaged with a range of speakers from @bbcfilmofficial, @bbcstoryworks, @bfinetwork, @cinemamasco , Lee & Thompson, @raisingfilms , @rentrakmovies and @screendaily and more.

⭐️ The cohort spent two days meeting one another and engaging with discussions about their re-entry to their chosen field whilst we came together as a group to discuss what participants wanted out of the program.

⭐️ The Back in the Frame Program would not be possible without the incredible support of @sonypicturesuk who have made this possible through their Production Creative Diversity Fund . We also appreciate the in kind support of Lee & Thompson for providing space and resources to support the first Lab.

⭐️ A huge thank you to our speakers from the Lab: Ameenah Ayub Allen, Charles Gant, Fi Tudur, Kristin Irving, Line Langebek, Louise Ortega, Nathan Gilligan, Navine Mabro and Valeria Bullo for such generous engagement with our cohort.

⭐️ We really look forward to sharing with you how our cohort progresses over the next 6 months.

⭐️ Take a look at the press release in our bio to learn more about this year’s participants in the programme.

Superhuman has made the final 8... and I'm going to @the_writers_lab #NewYork

@frolic_films @otherprods @itg_ltd 🙌🏽

A development program design to support female screenwriters over 40 - supported by the likes of #MerylStreep, @nicolekidman and #NataliePortman, the Lab exists to amplify those voices - and for a good reason... Women over 40 make up 25% of the world’s population, yet were on the writing teams of just 12% of US films in 2025... and in the UK - the figures are less concrete but the BFI’s latest funding data shows that among feature films receiving BFI production funding in 2024–25, only 27% of writers were women. Now that fact blows my mind!!

@faysimone and @musclefactoryswinton I'm gonna need your expert input for the next draft!!

And a random shout out to @flownspace I re wrote this draft whilst on Flown sessions. Wouldn't have got it done without you...
Let's do this...

I’m a semi-finalist! 🙌🏽

Writing is a long game…

SUPERHUMAN is a love letter to my sister, @faysimone and to my mum, my dad and my Aunty Bella - who I loved... I started writing it seven years ago, and so much has changed since then. So much, in fact, that I’m a different person now… with a different head and a different heart.

Soooo ready to head to New York or LA this autumn with #Superhuman for @the_writers_lab.

@frolic_films / @otherprods

We did it!!

Thank you @amycudden, @kennydoughty, @joshua.c.d.green and @annaharg for all the notes, encouragement and love along the way.

Ready to re-enter filmmaking? We’ve extended the deadline. 📣

After hearing from a number of prospective applicants who needed a little more time, we’ve extended the deadline for Back in the Frame so everyone has the same opportunity to apply.

If you’re an experienced woman or marginalised gender director or producer with experience and credits in film / TV returning after a career break, we’d love to hear from you.

We’re delighted to be joined by an incredible first wave of coaches including Caroline Goyder and Valeria Bullo, filmmakers including Ameenah Ayub Allan, Afia Nkrumah and Line Langebek, alongside experts from @bbcfilmofficial, @britishfilminstitute LFF, @cinemamasco, @comscoremoviesuk, @film4, @hanway_films, @quinzaine_des_cineastes, @raisingfilms, @reel_time_media and @thesmallhrcompany – with more still to be announced.

Out in Cannes with Camilla from @frolic_films who is here with her amazing slate. My film Superhuman is one of the projects she's been championing...

The film has been in development for years and Camilla has guided it with so much patience and intelligence to a place where the script is almost... finally... ready.
