SO thankful for the creative concepts I’ve gotten to be apart of, the continued education, and of course my wonderful clients 🤍

One thing about living in Southern California, it doesn’t rain often and it storms even less often. Rainy day here in Charleston today and it’s weird to realize how much you’ve missed storms. Not a fan of the tornado activity but it was quite nice to have the day off and just sit on my couch watching the storm roll on by out the window. Added benefit … the pollen should finally die down for a minute!! Seems like summer is officially on its way.

Sometimes all the stars align and a shot just comes out perfect. This is one of those for me. The lighting, the coloring, the sharpness, the flow of his feathers…. I wouldn’t change a thing! He looks like he’s marching off somewhere on business in style like the main character!

I love a good fiery sunset, but I almost love a cotton candy one just a bit more. There’s something so gentle and calming about those pastels just mixing and blending through the clouds. I love that no two sunsets are the same, that one day you can have fiery reds and bright oranges and the next you can have the gentlest pink you’ve ever seen and sherbet colored oranges. God I’m such a sap for all things nature. In a world full of chaos, war and stress we’ve been given something so incredible. I hope in all the chaos we have going on lately you’re able to find those little blessings. I hope you listen a little deeper a bit longer to children’s laughter. I hope you stop to literally smells the roses or at least take in the sight of them when you pass someone’s garden blooming! I hope when the sky lights up with a million tiny twinkling lights you look up and take a deep breath. I hope when the chaos gets to be too much, that you remember you have the ability to step out of that space and search for something beautiful. It truly is all around you.

Went in search of new locations to shoot and hopefully to find some bird life yesterday. It wasn’t quite the day I’d hoped for in terms of bird life but I do love finding views that take my breath away and I certainly found a few that caught my attention yesterday. If the day taught me anything, it’s just hope much I love and miss exploring and photographing nature and wildlife. It’s been hard to find time or it’s just been so cold I haven’t gotten up to go out as much since moving here. So grateful the weather is warming up finally.

Either I was looking like a snack when I took this or these two just like to pose for the camera lol! I mean how lucky was I to have gotten both of their attention at such a gorgeous moment?! Never mind the probably 15 minutes of sitting there taking countless images, hoping one turned out right! In truth for every amazing shot you see on the internet 9 times out of 10, that photographer probably took 25 or more shots of the exact same scene. I will say however, every now and then, everything just comes together at the perfect moment and you capture everything an image could possibly be in one single shot. I’ve definitely done it.

Some people might champion AI for saving photographers the trouble and just creating whatever someone asks instantly. The problem with that is it takes that creative process from photographers entirely. Who needs a photographer when you can just upload your face and it’ll put you on vacation in Aruba or high atop the Statue of Liberty, maybe climbing the pyramids of Egypt. If you ask it’ll give you a three headed fish with a dogs tail and zebra stripes. For me, despite how much I struggle with a lot of what’s going on in the world, I’d still chose real over an Ai or overly photoshopped image. I’d still prefer reality to what a computer can spit out. I’d still rather have the process of taking 100 shots for only a few to come out right. I hope I’m not alone in that. I’m sure there are numerous other photographers out there, many probably, that feel the same. So next time you want to ask ChatGPT for something maybe reconsider who you’re putting out of work or how many gallons of water you’re using. We only have one habitable planet.

You ever type up a whole meaningful from the heart post just to have instagram glitch out and the whole thing disappear? I just did 😭😂 I wrote a whole heartfelt post about the way the marsh and rivers edge are the place I’m most at peace and feel the most joy and how all I did to this image was darken it a bit and boost the saturation and that the marsh really just showed up that evening… and Instagram said nah. Start over 🤦🏻‍♀️😂 well you guys got the condensed version lol, enjoy!

I dont usually champion posting images that straight up look AI, I don’t support AI and what it’s doing to this planet and people but I’ve always Loved this image. I think this was shot in 2015 maybe. AI may have been a thing but it hadn’t taken over the world and made you question if something you see is real or not. I love how it almost looks painted but, it’s very real. If I remember correctly it was shot at the Jacksonville Zoo. I knew of Ibis’ but had never seen a Scarlett Ibis and was just mesmerized by its coloring against that background.

I do get how Ai can be beneficial esp in certain circumstances but the way it’s being used now and the mass consumption/usage of it might be the thing that kills us all off finally lol.
