To celebrate a century of tradition, we are honored to welcome Alexis A. Arredondo (@journey_to_mictlan) and Alejandro Castañeda III (@alejandro_castanedaiii) for a deep dive into the history of Texas spiritualism. Their presentation, "Voices Across the Veil: 100 Years of Texas Spiritualism," explores the evolution of Spiritualism from early 1900s séance circles to modern evidential mediumship. Together, they will reveal how this movement took root in the Lone Star State and why the connection to the beyond remains a vital source of healing today. This session concludes with a live demonstration of mediumship, where attendees will witness the Spiritualist tradition in practice.

Alexis A. Arredondo is a renowned author, occultist, and co-owner of Austin’s City Alchemist (@cityalchemist). As the founder of Mictlan Academy, he specializes in making traditional spirit work and occult knowledge accessible to modern seekers. He is joined by Alejandro Castañeda III, an instructor at the First Spiritualist Church of Austin and a student of the Morris Pratt Institute. Alejandro’s work focuses on bridging formal mediumship study with active community service and intuitive development.

🕯️CHILLING SEASON at Freddo ATX

Chilling Season is our outdoor screening series featuring haunted films shown at a real haunted house, experienced together under the night sky. Each screening pairs a secret film with conversation, history, and the strange stories that inspired it.

This week’s film remains a surprise, followed by a post-film discussion moderated by me exploring the true haunting behind the story, its cultural impact, and the spiritualist movement of the era. We’ll be joined by @goremet_cinema_gang , @theaustinseance, and @fscaustin , who will share the history of seances and showcase authentic objects from the period when it all began.

☕️Freddo ATX will be serving a spooky themed cocktail, plus their full food and drink menu - including hot coffee and teas to keep you warm. Heaters will be on throughout the night... but hey, it is Chilling Season, and there’s something special about watching a chilling movie while actually being chilly.

🎟️RAFFLE GIVEAWAY

All RSVPs will be entered into a free raffle for a custom, exclusive artwork print created specifically for this film and screening by @joseramirezartist — a one-of-a-kind piece you won’t be able to get anywhere else.
