Last week, Rockford hosted an energizing #WomeninConstructionWeek panel featuring three industry leaders: Kara Pellerito, director of planning, design and construction at Ferris State University; Jen Schottke, CEO of the West Michigan Construction Institute; and Sylvia Latson, superintendent at Rockford. The conversation, moderated by Lisa Puruleski, interiors project manager at Rockford, explored what it takes to build a career in construction today, navigating challenges, driving change and creating space for everyone to thrive.

It was an insightful and uplifting discussion, and a powerful reminder of the momentum women are creating across the industry. We’re grateful to our panelists for sharing their stories and to everyone who joined us in showing support.

A career in construction can take many paths, and that’s what makes our industry so dynamic and inclusive. Whether you're a tradesperson entering a union apprenticeship program and earning while you learn, or a college student pursuing a degree in construction management, the opportunities are endless.

During this Careers in Construction Month, Ideal Contracting was proud to partner with Ferris State University and Dakota High School to educate the next generation about the many possibilities within our industry. Join us as we work together with our people and partners to educate the next generation on the construction industry and about all the wonderful things we can build together.

Ferris State University,
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to grow as a leader and as a professional. Thank you for giving me a group of best friends that I will proudly call my family for the rest of my life. To my professor thank you for challenging me to be the best version of myself everyday. To my family I could not have done this without your love and support throughout the years. I am excited to start my career in West Michigan working with The Christman Company. I am truly blessed with this opportunity that I have been given and can’t wait to get started. Last but certainly not least I am and always will be proud to be a Bulldog! Go Dawgs!
