In grad school, I studied a lot of the history of Baltimore neighborhoods and how they were separated by race and religion. Most, if not all, of the north-northeast developments had restrictive covenants written into the land deeds in the early 1900s excluding African Americans, Asians, and Jews. They were ruled unconstitutional not long after. Interesting to see some of the original documents. @dand_oca #baltimore #bmorehistoric #neighborhood #history #restrictivecovenants #racism #bigotry #baltimorehistory #homeland #rolandparkcompany #olmstead #urbanplanning #exclusion #segregation #americanhistory #digitization#archive @fullcirclefineart
