What a magical few days at PARALLEL Vienna! ✨

RE-ENCHANTMENT
After the Human

PARALLEL Vienna 2026, Otto-Wagner-Areal, Baumgartner Höhe 1, 1140 Vienna

September 9–13, 2026
Pavilion 7 / Rooms 103–106

In this presentation, hybrid worlds emerge at the intersection of nature, mythology, and technology—worlds where familiar orders are destabilized.
Amidst ice flowers, displaced wolves, artificially singing birds, luminous landscapes, cyborgs, dragons, and digital visions, a cosmos takes shape in which the archaic and the post-digital coexist as a matter of course. The artists craft speculative narratives concerning transformation, memory, technology, and humanity’s relationship with its environment. What emerges is neither a vision of the future nor a return to nature, but a multi-layered in-between realm in which nature, mythology, and technology have become inseparably intertwined.

100 × 70 × 5 cm, mixed media on wood, 2017

Robofox depicts a hybrid fox whose body is partially replaced by robotic elements, existing between the natural and technological worlds. The fox has freed itself from a brutal trap set by illegal hunters, turning its struggle into a gesture of strength and liberation.
The work imagines a future in which the boundaries between animal, technology, and human increasingly dissolve, as natural beings are forced to adapt to a world shaped by human intervention.

𝗜𝗡 𝗪𝗢𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗟𝗔𝗡𝗗
100 × 100 × 5 cm, mixed media with firepainting on wood, 2020

In Wonderland has an apocalyptic character, evoking a kind of “day after”. Inspired by abandoned amusement parks such as Spreepark in Berlin, Pripyat in Ukraine, and Six Flags in New Orleans, the work reflects on what may happen to us and to our planet.
Spaces once created for human entertainment are being reclaimed by nature and transformed into new ecosystems. The fox beside the human is not depicted as a wild creature, but as a peaceful companion, raising the question of whether humans and animals really have to live separately.
What from our perspective may appear to be the end of the world could, from nature’s perspective, be the beginning of new life.

(* 。* ヘ) some glimpses into the working process of our residency artists Oskerhase @oskerhase & Funky Fiona @funkyfiona, captured on camera by @framedbymotion.
...with found organic materials and other objects from the surrounding forest, from the river Inn, and from GRUND itself, they build incredible fantastic creatures and ornamental sculptures in which someone can discover worlds and imagine stories 🐉 🧚

Their works will be shown at @grund1535 on October 2 as part of @die_goldeneschindel. *・:✧。an invitation to wonder.
